II. PRESENTING PROBLEM

The client firmly believe that education is the only solution to bail her and her family out of the
poverty line. She is an average student having average grades performing average performance, yet
she aims to finish her secondary studies. Sadly, her father died, their bread-winner is gone therefore
their monthly income has severely dropped. Their mother is only just earning below 10,000php
monthly, just enough to buy food and pay the bills, surely insufficient to sustain the daily costs of
sending her and her siblings to school. This is mainly the reason of her absenteeism and lately the
stoppage of the client’s education. Her last attendance in school was from the last school year, she
did not enroll in the current school year.

The client has a simple goal, to finish secondary education. Yet her current situation makes her
goal blurry. She stated that the recent events in her life have created a massive toll in her mental
health. Her decision to put family first before her education have caused frequent daydreaming and
overthinking for what the future may have stored for an uneducated girl like her. She also felt out of
touch of her circle of friends at school, reason why her social skills are impacted negatively.

III. CLIENT’S HISTORY

The client recalled her childhood life as simple yet joyous, back when their father is alive and they
have enough to survive and be able to be sent in school. She also shared how they celebrated hers
and her siblings’ birthdays which was compared day and night to how they celebrate their birthdays
today. The client also shared her life in school, playing with her close friends and the feeling of being
in school in which she would describe as being in the right direction or path. The client stated that she
is a healthy and was not diagnosed with any diseases.

The client shared that the passing of her father along with her situation in her education have
caused her to try gateway drugs specifically alcoholic drinks. She explained that this was her way in
order to cope up with everything that has happened to her life. This is also her way of linking up with
her friends. This is the time where she shares her problem with her friends whom she believes can
relate to her. She stated that aside from her siblings and mother, her friends was her support system.

IV. ASSESSMENT STATEMENT

Based on our personal evaluation, the client's emotional support needs to be improved through
active listening and empowerment, as well as mental stability.

Social support theory focuses on how individuals receive emotional, mental, and practical support
from the community, which include family, friends, and communities. This support helps people cope
with stress and life's challenges, improving their mental and emotional well-being.

The method emphasizes the significance of solid relationships in developing resilience. Resources
such as trained mental health, community outreach programs to create connection, and easily available
support groups are required. If the problem is handled, they will gain stronger coping abilities, higher
self-esteem, and a sense of belonging, all of which will benefit their overall well-being

their bread winner while her mother guides and raises her and her siblings, but the passing of
her Father resulted for her Mother to seek employment, leaving the job of raising her and her
siblings to their older Brother and older Sister. This sudden change in their family have caused

secondary education, yet their financial situation and her anxieties have resulted to her
frequent absenteeism.
The client shared that her class adviser with some barangay workers once visited her
due to her absenteeism. The meeting includes discussion about her grades, the result of her
frequent absent in the present and in the future, and encouraged her to attend classes more.
Yet the meeting has not addressed the cause of her absenteeism.
According to the client, she has experienced a lot of anxiety and is in constant worrying.
The client has no diagnoses or treatments since they are too poor to ask for professional help.

B. The Family (Person-in-Situation)

The client shared that her family, despite not having enough, can be described as a
close and loving family. She shared that among her siblings, she is mostly closed to her younger
sisters since her mother and older brother worked to support her older sister to finish college,
the task of taking care of her younger siblings was passed unto her. In the past, she shared that
the client’s Mother ran the house with an iron fist, where every wrong-doings will be punished
immediately. The client shared that her father and mother values education so much and
always remind them to finish their studies and help their younger siblings. But the death of her
father, and the need of their mother to work for the family have changed their family a lot. The
task of raising them and instilling good values to them was given to their teenager older siblings
which resulted to a lot of infighting. The client shared that as they grew older, their bond got
closer and closer as they understand each other’s situation. She stated that their older brother
has stopped going to school and went to work just to support their older sibling to graduate in
college.

C. The Community / Environment (Person-in-Environment)

older sisters, and 1 room occupied by their mother and younger siblings. Her 2 Older brother sleeps

small, yet it is very organized as majority of the people living inside are women. Not a meter away
from their house was also the house of their neighbor and so is their neighbor of their neighbor. The

In this community, the client feels the safest since everybody can relate to what she is
experiencing, poverty. Only when she goes out of this community, she felt being discriminated for
being poor.

VI. ASSESSMENT STATEMENT

base on the asessment. The client is facing tough times after her father's death, who was the
main provider for the family. His passing has pushed her mother to find a job, which means
the client now has to take care of her younger siblings. This change in their family situation
has caused the client to feel more anxious and worried, leading to her missing school often.
The mix of money problems and emotional stress makes it hard for her to concentrate on her
studies, creating a cycle of challenges that keeps her struggling.
The client really wants to finish her education and is eager to make her life better. Her close
family gives her emotional support, which helps her stay strong. However, she deals with a lot
of anxiety, which causes her to miss school regularly. Financial issues make it hard for her to
get the resources she needs, including help for her mental health. There are educational
options in the community, like Alternative Learning System (ALS) teachers and possible
scholarships. Also, community services, such as health clinics, could offer some help. If the
financial problems continue, it might make things worse for the family, and not having access
to mental health care could increase her anxiety. Additionally, social stigma outside her
community might hurt her self-esteem and make her hesitant to ask for help.

The client's situation can be better understood through **Ecological Systems Theory**, which
highlights how her family dynamics, community resources, and societal factors all play a role
in her well-being. This theory shows that it’s important to tackle not just her personal
challenges but also the larger environment that affects her struggles.
