The document presents two IELTS writing tasks, one analyzing the living conditions of people born in and outside Australia in 1950 and 2010, and the other discussing the effectiveness of financial aid from rich countries to poorer nations. It concludes that while financial aid may provide short-term relief, long-term solutions should focus on education and technology transfer to combat poverty. The analysis highlights a significant increase in city living for both groups over the decades, while the second task argues for alternative forms of assistance beyond monetary support.

SAMPLE ESSAYS
Task 01: The chart below shows the percentage of people born in and outside of Australia
living in cities, towns, and rural areas in 1950 and 2010.

The two column charts delineate the proportions of two groups of residents, who
were born in Australia and elsewhere, living in three areas comprising cities, Commented [H1]: including

towns, and rural areas in Australia in 1950 and 2010.

Overall, it can be apparently observed from the charts that city life was
considerably more common for both groups of people in both 1950 and 2010.
Furthermore, the percentage of both groups of city dwellers increased over six Commented [H2]: city people; city residents; those who lived in

decades.

In 1950, around half of the people born in Australia resided in cities, whereas Commented [H3]: to live in = to reside in = to dwell in

only one-fifth of them lived in towns and roughly one-third dwelled in rural areas.
By 2010, the number of city residents had increased to approximately 65%, while
the percentages of those living in towns and rural areas dropped to a little over Commented [H4]: = who lived

15% each.

On the other hand, the percentage of people born outside of Australia that lived Commented [H5]: = who were born

in cities was around 60% in 1950, and 80% in 2010. Notably, a significant portion Commented [H6]: một phần đáng kể

of immigrants in Australia lived in rural areas in 1950 (40%); however, this figure
dropped substantially in 2010 to around 5%.

Task 02: Rich countries often give money to poorer countries, but it does not solve
poverty. Therefore, developed countries should give other types of help to poorer
countries rather than financial aid. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Poor countries are often given financial aid by richer nations in an attempt to
provide the citizens of those disadvantaged countries with a better standard of Commented [H7]: underprivileged; thiệt thòi

living and quality of life. However, this kind of aid rarely solves the issue of poverty,
and therefore I completely agree that wealthy nations should offer other forms of Commented [H8]: = affluent (adj.); giàu có

assistance.

Firstly, in order to truly help people from poorer nations in the long term,
governments and citizens should be provided with good quality education. For
example, only in recent years have people from more affluent countries spread Commented [H9]: đảo ngữ với ONLY ở đầu câu hay đầu mệnh

about the simple, yet life-saving practices of hand washing and personal hygiene. Commented [H10]: những thói quen đơn giản nhưng cứu được

infection. Furthermore, by sharing the cutting-edge techniques in farming and Commented [H13]: bệnh tật và lây nhiễm có thể ngăn ngừa

them more access to food, which will essentially give them adequate nutrition to Commented [H15]: đủ dinh dưỡng

Secondly, rather than simply providing money, richer nations should assist Commented [H17]: instead of

governments in poorer countries to gain access to new technology and equipment. Commented [H18]: được tiếp cận

By sharing with such countries specialised farming machinery, or life-saving Commented [H19]: máy móc canh tác chuyên dụng

enhanced. Moreover, while many underprivileged countries may possess significant Commented [H21]: disadvantaged

amounts of natural resources, such as fossil fuels, minerals, and precious metals,
they often do not have the technology or equipment to mine and refine such Commented [H22]: khai thác mỏ

resources. As a result, many wealthier countries often take advantage of this
situation and mine the resources of those poor countries while paying them a
fraction of their worth. Commented [H24]: trả cho họ một phần nhỏ trong giá trị của

In conclusion, while giving financial aid to poor nations can be beneficial in the short
term, sharing education and technology will benefit them more in the long run.
