DAILY
JOURNAL
Day 1: 18 October 2024

The first day of our practice teaching was great, we went to Bukandala

Elementary School together with our Student Teaching Coordinator, Mrs. Vivian

Panigbatan. At the principal's office, they welcome us with all of their heart’s together

with the different grade level chairmans. Mrs. Panigbatan spoke first for the

introduction of what student teachers will do. Mrs. Panigbatan tackled the required

hours for our off-campus duty which is 336 hours. After that the principal, Mrs.
Danilyn

Siwa has a brief orientation for us. Mrs. Siwa tackles all the rules and regulations of

the school premises. She also said that she is very happy and excited because
finally,

they have interns again from Cavite State University - Imus Campus to help them
and

also to help us to have more knowledge and experiences on having readiness in

actual

teaching or prepared to teach in the real world. Also, she is looking forward to the

experiences that we will learn from Bukandala Elementary School. Mrs. Siwa decided

to have different cooperating teachers for local and grand demos so that we could be

more flexible and have more experience handling different grade levels. Then Mrs.

Siwa introduced us to the chairmans of all the Grade levels from Grade 1 to Grade 6.

Following their introductions, Mrs. Siwa began assigning us from various

grade levels; however, some of us were tasked with assisting Sir Rj with their

props for their dance competition, which is called "Wellness." We proceeded to

our assigned location following that orientation, while others went to the

canteen, to the classroom, and also to Sir Rj. For their props, we created

Banderitas, cut out printed pictures, and covered some pictures with plastic

covers. And we just duty five hours that day, from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Day 2: 28 October 2024

On this day, the classes are back after a 1-week suspension of classes
due to the inclement weather. So, that morning, Mrs. Siwa assigned us with
Ma'am Carla to Grade 6 - Jade students in Ma'am Leila Sasi's advisory class
because she was in the softball tournament. At first, I was very nervous and
excited because that was the first time I met students in a classroom in
Bukandala Elementary School. When we got there, we didn't know what
approach we would take because It was the first time we met them. After a
minute, we introduced ourselves to them and said we would be their teachers
that day because Ma'am Sasi was not around. So, to entertain the Grade 6
students, we did some spelling words to learn what they were learning about
spelling some words. At first, we felt uncomfortable and very shy because that
was the first time they met us, but afterward, after the spelling words that we
did. I was amazed that a lot of them got perfect scores when it came to
spelling. It means that they know how to spell words. After that, it's recessed,
and they have 30 minutes to take their break; some have snacks, and some
will buy on the tray. I was shocked and amazed at how they handled their
tray; I also asked Ms. President why students must give their money for the
tray and list them on the paper even though the tray was not there. She said it
was a school rule for the tray, so they don't have to worry about counting and
seeing how many students will buy at recess time. After recess, we decided to
have a Multiplication Game. We grouped them into 2; the left was Group 1,
and the right was Group 2. The instructions are to solve problems; each group
needs one representative. So, the first one who finished solving the problem
got 1 point. At first, it was hard for them to solve because they were confused
and had difficulty solving it. But afterwards, Group 2 won. As a prize, we told
them they would not be the cleaners for that day. Afterward, they go home
because their class is only half a day. We bid them goodbye and told them
they would see us again tomorrow.

After our lunch break, Mrs. Siwa assigned me to Grade 5 - Ruby in

Ma'am Frias's advisory class because she was also in the volleyball
tournament. At first, I was very nervous because I was alone. I was not with
Ma'am Carla and didn't know what to do or my approach to them. But I'm very
happy because Grade 5 - Ruby is approachable, and their curiosity was
evident as they asked me some questions, like how old I am. Where school
did, I come from? If I am also a student or a teacher? Their enthusiasm and
curiosity made me feel more at ease. Afterward, a teacher from another
section approached me and said they would do some slogans and have a
small event downstairs, where those wearing costumes for the United Nations
would go downstairs. Grade 5 - Ruby has three representatives representing
three countries: South Korea, the Philippines, and Saudi Arabia. One of them
was chosen to represent their section, Ms. South Korea and I was very proud
of her because she made it. After that, we went upstairs and continued with
what they did then, which was a slogan. After how many hours, the class
ended, and they bid me goodbye and told me that they would see me again
tomorrow. And I just duty seven hours that day, from 8:00 to 12:00 noon and
3:00 to 6:00 pm.

Day 3: 29 October 2024

On this day, Tuesday morning. Ma'am Carla and I were assigned again by
Ma'am Siwa to Grade 6 - Jade to handle them because Ma'am Sasi is not around
again. She is in the softball tournament. That day, we tried to reach out to Ma'am
Sasi and ask what else we could do in her advisory class; she said that some of her
students have difficulty in reading, so to help those students, we called them one by
one at least read those words or story on the book. Then, after that, we saw that
around 2 or 3 students had difficulty reading English and Tagalog words, So I was
shocked because they reached Grade 6 without knowing how to read even though it
was essential words, for example, "red" or even four letters like "game" they didn't
know, so as a student teacher, I help them to at least know how to read those basic
words.

Then after that class in the morning. Mrs. Siwa assigned us to help Ma'am
Cecile organize the feeding program for malnourished students. We help them by
giving them food and plastic bags full of buns and rice for students. Then, after that,
while waiting for other students, Ma'am Siwa came into the feeding area and told us
that Sir Rj needed some help again fixing and spray painting their props because the
next day was their video competition. So we went to Sir Rj beside the Guidance
Office; we were initially shy and anxious because we didn't know how to spray paint.
Then, afterward, Sir Rj helped us, and we enjoyed what we did. Then I realized that I
had an afternoon class at 3:00 pm in Grade 5 - Ruby, so I chatted to our GC to see if
there was an intern available that time to help Sir Rj Ma'am Danica replied that she
would go downstairs after her class, So I bid my goodbye to Sir Rj and went to Grade
5 - Ruby, then when I got to the classroom there's a lot of school bags when I check
it, it has notebooks, pencils and papers a gift from AA Advincula to students living in
Imus Area. Then afterward, Ma'am Frias came in; she thanked me for helping her
handle her advisory class while she was in the volleyball tournament and asked If I
could give those bags to students on the list and then take a picture of them
afterward. I agreed because she would leave for the tournament again. And she bid
goodbye because she's leaving. After an hour, Ma'am Carla went to my class and sat
in because they were done helping Sir Rj. While Ma'am Carla was waiting, I
instructed Grade 5 - Ruby to bring out 1/4 sheet of paper because we have spelling
words. Afterward, they exchanged their papers; some were happy because they had
spelled them correctly while checking. Many students got the correct spelling, but a
few were confused about the words. After that, I also tried to multiply by 3 to 4 digits.
Many students struggled with multiplication; only a few got the correct answer, so I
wanted to help them and teach them how to multiply it correctly on the board.
Sometimes, they are confused because they don't know the multiplication table, so
they are having a hard time, but they can make it too just one at a time. And I just
duty ten hours that day, from 7:00 to noon and 1:00 to 6:00 pm.
Day 4: 30 October 2024

On this day, Wednesday morning. Ma'am Sasi, the advisory teacher of

Grade 6 - Jade. Ask me if handling Grade 6 - Diamond is okay because
Ma'am Vidar will go to Malagasang for the tournament. It was okay because I
wanted to experience more sections. While walking to Grade 6 - Diamond
classroom beside Grade 6 - Jade, Ma'am Vidar was inside the school, so I
approached her and asked when she would go to Malagasang; she said after
the break. I said noted; I'll be back later, so I can assist your class while you
are not around. After that, I'm back again to Grade 6 - Jade, and I told Ma'am
Sasi that I'll be back later, so I'll continue helping some of her students read.
After an hour, I'm back again at Ma'am Vidar, and she is packing her things
and ready to go. Her class bid goodbye to Ma'am Vidar.

Afterward, I introduced myself to Grade 6 - Diamond and told them I

would be their Student Teacher today because Ma'am Vidar was not around.
After that, some students asked me: where did I come from? And how old am
I? I am thrilled and anxious because we all know they have different attitudes,
and it is a new section again for me, but it's okay; I can always handle it. After
that question and answer, I also tried spelling words from 1 to 10 - some
students had difficulty spelling some words, but I was amazed by others
because they could spell the words correctly. After that, Ma'am Nina from
Grade 6 - Amber came in, and she was very mad because of some students
from Grade 6 - Diamond; those students informed me that they would go to cr,
but it turned out that they were chasing outside the classroom after they went
to cr. Ma'am Niña told me that Grade 6 - Diamond is her worst and naughty
section because it always happens. I apologized to Ma'am Niña because it
was my duty to watch over them, but it turned out that way. After that, I told
them not to do it again, and I found out that Grade 6 - Diamond is afraid of
Ma'am Niña. That's why they immediately followed her, and we waited until
11:50 so I could let them out.

After lunch, Ma'am Cecille messaged in a group chat and asked if there
were available interns to help her distribute by Grade level the plastic bag full
of rice and buns for feeding. At that time, we are divided into 2 to make
distributing the plastic bags faster. After that, it's 3:00 pm, and I have an
afternoon class, Grade 5 - Ruby. It was their Halloween Party at that moment,
so some wore costumes, and some did not. Because I already loved Grade 5
- Ruby. I prepared some candies so they could feel the Halloween Party's
appearance even though their advisory teacher was not around. I'm very
happy because I saw them happy with what they received from me. And that's
all for Day 4. I just duty ten hours that day, from 7:00 to noon and 1:00 to 6:00
pm.
