Subject: Motivation Letter for Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship
Dear Sir, Madam,
Greetings,
I am Abdelhamid Djeghoubbi, currently pursuing a Master’s in Linguistics at Kasdi Merbah
University in Ouargla, Algeria. I am writing with great interest to pursue my PhD studies at
Peter Pázmány Catholic University through the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship.
Introduced to this scholarship by my university mentors four years ago, I have since been
diligently preparing to apply for and secure this prestigious opportunity.
I have always viewed the Stipendium Hungaricum programme as a fantastic opportunity due
to the Algerian-Hungarian educational exchange. Its strong reputation among the Algerian
academic community and endorsements from fellow students speak volumes. Furthermore, I
am confident that the Doctoral School at Pázmány Péter Catholic University is the perfect
match for my academic pursuits. The competitive nature of its programmes, along with the
esteemed faculty, including my prospective supervisor, Sárdi Csilla, known for their
distinguished contributions to research, denotes the school's academic excellence. My choice
to study in Hungary is influenced by its excellent academic standing in linguistics, the rich
cultural and linguistic setting, and my personal connections with linguistics students already
studying there. I anticipate that this programme will significantly help me build a professional
network in my field.
Holding a BA in English Language and Literature and currently in my final year of a Master's
in Linguistics at Kasdi Merbah University, Ouargla, Algeria, my academic record is
exemplary, marked by ranking first among 200 students in my initial master's semesters. This
achievement, coupled with my active participation in international linguistic conferences,
where I have had the privilege of presenting several papers and actively participating in
workshops that covered various themes within the field of linguistics in addition to practical
teaching experience, highlights my suitability for the program. This programme aligns with
my ambition to become a prominent researcher and a university teacher, where I plan to apply
the skills and knowledge gained to enhance English language and linguistics education back
home, thus contributing significantly to the academic discourse in linguistics.
My research, centred on genre analysis of economics research articles in Algeria, aims to
elevate the standard of academic writing locally and offer insights valuable to the
international academic community. My work seeks not only to improve scholarly
communications within Algeria but also to shed light on academic practices that could
resonate on a global scale. As I prepare for the transition to life as an international student in
Hungary, I am keenly aware of the challenges that await, from mastering the Hungarian
language to acclimatising to the cooler climate and immersing myself in a distinct cultural
milieu. Nevertheless, I am resolute in my commitment to adapt and thrive, and I plan to
engage in Hungarian language courses to ensure a smooth transition to life in Hungary.
I am confidently optimistic about fulfilling the requirements of the Stipendium Hungaricum
Scholarship. With a strong academic record and a deep-seated eagerness to contribute to and
benefit from this esteemed programme, I believe I am an excellent fit. My commitment and
academic achievements underscore my readiness to become a part of this distinguished
scholarship community.
I am deeply grateful for your time and consideration.
Yours sincerely,
Abdelhamid Djeghoubbi
