Ques: Define styles and use of styles in a document.


Ans: A style is a set of formats that can be applied to selected pages, text and other elements
of the document to quickly change their appearance.
Uses of styles in a document:-
1. Styles help improve consistency in a document.
2. They also make major formatting changes easy.
3. Styles make the task easier.
4. Makes document presentable in easier manner.
Ques: List types of styles.
Ans:
1• Page styles - It defines basic page layout like page size, its margin, placement of
header and footer, borders and background.
2• Paragraph styles- It control all aspects of a paragraph’s appearance, such as text
alignment, tab stops, line spacing, and borders.
3• Character styles- It affect selected text within a paragraph, such as the font and
size of text, or bold and italic formats.
4• Frame Styles-It allows to format a frame by specifying its size, position,
border and how the text is placed around the picture.
5• List Style - It can be used to style lists by putting numbering or bullets of a
different kind or specify numeric format.
6• Table Style - Table Style category allows to format a table by adding borders,
using different text or border colour(s), aligning text inside the table, having
different patterns or text colour.
Ques: Write the ways to apply styles in a document.
Ans: Several ways to select styles to apply:-
* Using Style option from Menu Bar
* Using keyboard shortcut — F11 function key
* Using Fill Format : F11select the desired style category Select Fill Format
buttontake the mouse pointer to desired location and click , and Repeat it until all the
changes have been made for that style >Select the contents to apply style  To quit Fill
Format option, click the Fill Format button again or press the Esc key
Ques: How can you create new (custom) styles?
Ans: Creating a new style:-
1. type content and format the contents
2. shift + F11
3. Type a name for the new style
4. Click OK to save the new style
Ques: How can you modify/update styles?
Ans: Steps are:
1. Select style
2. Right click on the style that we want to modify  Edit Style
3. Modify Style
4. Click OK
Ques: Explain the different ways to insert image in a document.
Ans: Inserting Image Using Insert Image Option:
1. Click on insert tab
2. Click on image  dialog box appears
3. Select the image
4. Click on OPEN button
Inserting an image using drag and drop option:
Drag and drop refers to selecting an image from a particular location and dragging and
dropping it in the document where required.
1. Move the cursor where we want to insert the image.
2. Locate the image using the File browser window (Win+E).
3. Select the image and drag in your document.
Inserting image using Copy and Paste method:
1. Select the image
2. Press Ctrl + C (COPY)
3. Move the cursor where we want to insert the image.
4. Press Ctrl + V (PASTE)
Ques: How can you modify an image?
Ans: Modifying an image:
1. Select the image
2. Click on Format tab Image
3. Modify the image as per the requirements.

Ans: Cropping images
When we are only interested in a section of the image for the purpose of our document, we
may wish to crop (cut off) parts of it. Removing the unwanted area from an image is called
cropping.
Steps to crop an image are:
1. Select the image
2. Click on format tab image  crop
3. Select the required part of the image
Ques: How can you resize an image?
Ans: Resizing an image
The inserted image might not fit perfectly into the document if it is too big or too small. In
these cases, we can resize the image.
1. Select the image to show the resizing handles.
2. Position the pointer over one of the resizing handles. The pointer changes shape giving
a graphical representation of the direction of the resizing.
3. Click and drag to resize the picture.
4. Release the mouse button when satisfied with the new size.
Note:
The corner handles resize both the width and the height of the graphic object
simultaneously, while the other four handles only resize one dimension at a time.
Ques: How can you delete a picture?
Ans:
1. Select the image
2. Press Delete button

Ans:
Shapes are a drawing feature that helps us to draw different objects like stars, banners,
connectors, etc.
Creating drawing objects:
1. Click on Insert tab
2. Click on Shape
3. Click on the required shapes
4. Draw that shape on the document
Ques: How can you set or change properties for drawing objects?
Ans: Set or change properties for drawing objects
1. Select the shape
2. Click on format tab
3. Change the required properties of the shape
Ques. How can you resize a drawing object?
Ans: Resizing a drawing object
1. Click the drawing object to show the resizing handles.

4. Release the mouse button when satisfied with the new size.
Note:
For a scaled resizing, select one of the corner handles and keep the Shift key pressed while
dragging the handle to its new position.
Ques: How can you do grouping of drawing objects?
Ans: To group drawing objects:
Select one object, then hold down the Shift key and select the others we want to include in
the group.
Ques: How can we position image/graphics within the text?
Ans: Positioning of an image is controlled by four settings:
(i) Arrangement
Arrangement determines the position of the current drawing with respect to
other drawings or text.
(ii) Anchoring
It acts as a reference point for image or drawing. Anchoring allows an image to
retain its position to a page, paragraph, character or frame.
(iii) Alignment
It allows the vertical or horizontal placement of the image with respect to its
anchor.
(iv) Text Wrapping
It allows the placement of image in relation to text.
Ques: Explain Template.
Ans:
A TEMPLATE is a predefined layout that contains sample content, themes, colours, font
styles, background styles, etc., and gives an initial foundation to create a document.
A template is a model that we use to create other documents.

Ans:
1. Click on File tab
2. Click on newtemplates
3. Select and use the required template
4. Make the required changes
Ques: How can you create a template?

1. Create and set the document to make template
2. Click on File tab

4. Select the location where you want to save template
5. Type the name of template with extension .dot/.dotx /.ott
For example: - temp.ott
6. Click on Save
Ques: Define Table of Contents (TOC).
Ans:
Table of Contents (TOC) is a list or a table listing all the chapters or section titles or
headings along with their commencing page numbers.
A table of contents is usually given in the beginning of a book.
Ques: List the characteristics of a good TOC.
Ans:
1. It should be easy to read and simple to use.
2. It should be organised and formatted properly.
3. It must be accurate and easily accessible.
4. It should be given after the title and copyright page.
Ques: Explain Hierarchy of Headings.
Ans: LibreOffice Writer supports up to 10 levels of headings H1 to H10. These
headings are applied to the headings of the document.
Steps are:-
1. Open document
2. Select text for the heading
3. Open styles (ALT +2)
4. Select paragraph styles  Heading
5. Double click on desired Heading to apply it.
Ques: How can we create and customize TOC?
Ans: Steps are:-
1. Place the cursor at the position where the table of contents is to be inserted
2. Select Insert > Table of Contents and Index > Table of Contents, Index or
Bibliography
3. Dialog box will be displayed
4. Type the desired title of the ToC in the Title text box
5. Uncheck PROTECTED AGAINST MANUAL CHANGES
6. Click on OK button
7. Type the contents for TOC
8. Apply character style and maintain TOC as per the requirement
