• Develop an understanding of the fundamental physical properties of materials, including
mechanical, thermal, electrical, magnetic, and optical properties.
• Learn atomic and molecular structure inMluences the macroscopic properties of materials.
• Learn different types of electron theory, basics of quantum mechanics and about
superconductors
• Understand the physics of semiconducting materials and applications of semiconductors in
device fabrication
Course Outcomes (COs): After completion of this course, the student shall be able to:
• Evaluate the functional properties of materials (e.g., magnetic, optical, and electronic) and
identify their suitability for speciMic applications.
• Solve problems related to material selection, performance, and failure in engineering and
industrial applications.
• Identify and recommend materials for applications in areas like electronics, aerospace, and
renewable energy, based on their properties and performance.
