Implementation of Amended CBME Curriculum under
MUHS University for batch admitted in 2023
Department of Microbiology
1. Internal Assessment for theory
A) Students will prepare 200 pages register which includes
i) Home assignment -15 Marks
ii) Continues class test - 30 Marks
iii) Seminar - 15 Marks
iv) Museum study - 15 Marks
v) Library Assignment - 15 Marks
vi) Attendance - 10 Marks
Total Marks 100 Marks
B) SOP For Home Assignment: -
It will start from 2nd Term. Students will be given short answer questions on whatsapp group.
They have to write answers of these questions in Register.
C) SOP for Continues Class test: -
Students will be given 10 MCQ’s (10 MCQ’s x 1 Mark = 10 Marks) for each term. Students will
be called once in three month in Lecture hall for half hour.
D) SOP for Museum Assignments: -
It will starts from 2nd term only. Each students has to write 5 specimens for each section which
are kept in the museum. (Sections - Bacteriology, serology, virology, parasitology, charts &
Disinfectant solution).
E) Library Assignments:-
Students has to write any suitable topic from the books (with name, edition, page number)
which are kept in the Dept. library or central library. They should write any 3 topics which they
have read in library books, Functioning of the central Library, E Book topics.
F) Seminar :- 1 seminar for 10 students should be conducted such 20 seminars should be
arranged for 2nd term and 3rd term [ Number of students allotted for teachers can be modified
according to the strength.)
2. Internal Assessment for Practical:-
a) Certifiable skill based competencies – 60 Marks
b) AETCOM competencies - 30 Marks
c) SVL Lab activity - 40 Marks
d) Research - 20 Marks
e) Journal - 40 Marks
f) Practical Attendance - 10 Marks (whole year)
Total Marks - 200 Marks
(Certifiable skill exercises includes gram staining, ZN staining, Stool examination, PBS for
malaria, Hand hygiene, donning/Doffing DURING ROUTINE PRACTICAL)
AETCOM COMPETENCIES- 2.2, 2.3, 2.5
case base scenario discussion- GIVEN IN Apurva Shastry book . AETCOM test questions
to be given to students for whole batch for 30 marks or they can write reflection in
logbook.
SVL LAB ACTIVITY- skill observed during routine practical e.g a) Antibiotic Sensitivity
Interpretation of one pathogenic organism, b) Interpretation of Fungal culture & Slide,
c) Serological test, d) Collection of Different samples (ex- blood culture), etc. [ (a,b,c,d,)
can be divided 10 marks each total 40 Marks )]
Research- Any 2 article should be written – only abstract, results, conclusions should be
written of the research article from journals with name and page number. Or research
topic can be given to the student depending on the resources available.
Department microbiology journal - 40 marks
Attendance - should be given for 10 marks separately for theory and practical assessment
SOP For LOG Book (150 marks)
It should include 4 pages for SVL Lab activity Antibiotic Sensitivity interpretation of one
pathogenic organism, serological test, Collection of Different samples (ex- blood culture) and
for Research 4 pages (Any 2 article should be written – only abstract, results, conclusions should
be written of the research article from journals with name and page number.) Exiting Log Book
of MUHS SDL activity should be remove
Certifiable Skill Exercise – 60 Marks
SVL – 40 Marks
Research – 20 Marks
AETCOM - 30 Marks
Total = 150 Marks
Departments can modify the activity depending on the strength & resources available except
marks .
