CLB 7 READING COMPETENCY AREA:
Reading skill-using task III/ Getting Things Done
CLB 7: Locate and use 3 or 4 pieces of information from
moderately complex formatted texts (such as course
calendars, extensive directories, extensive website
navigation menus). [Formatted texts can contain multiple
pieces of information organized in sections with
subsections.]

Task: Research post-secondary programs of interest on college websites


and take notes of the advantages and disadvantages
Task Instructions:
1. Think about the program you wish to study on in future to help you
meet your career goal.
2. Choose two institutions in Alberta that offer the program. Some links
to websites of institutions in Calgary are listed below, but if your
chosen program isn’t offered at these institutions, either choose a
related program that is offered, or look for other institutions that are
not on this list.
3. Research ONE program at TWO different institutions. You will make
notes of the important information you need to know about the
program and institution by completing the tables below.
4. Then, write notes of the advantages and disadvantages of each
program / institution in the final table.
5. Finally, write a short explanation of which institution / program you
would be more likely to choose and why.
