Lab01

The document outlines a laboratory procedure for identifying parts of single-phase and three-phase motors, emphasizing safety and inspection steps. It highlights the differences between the two types of motors, noting the presence of a cooling fan and capacitors in the single-phase motor, while the three-phase motor lacks these features. Recommendations for proper tool use and maintenance are also provided to ensure safe handling and functionality of the motors.

Lab 01: Identifying the Parts of a Machine

Procedure:

1. Ensure the motor is disconnected from any power source before starting the
procedure to avoid accidents.
2. Use a screw to detach the top cover of the motor and examine the wire
connections carefully.
3. Inspect all the parts and components of the motor after removing the cover.
4. Take out the rotor and observe the stator windings.
5. After completing the inspection, reassemble the motor by putting all the parts and
the cover back in place.
6. Test the motor after reassembly to confirm it is working correctly.

Tools/Equipment:

1. 3-Φ Motor (2pcs)

2. 1-Φ Motor (1pc)
3. Pliers
4. Screw Driver

Analysis/Conclusion:

During our laboratory session, I observed differences between the single-phase

and three-phase motors. The single-phase motor has a cooling fan to prevent
overheating and two large capacitors on the side. The three-phase motor does not have
capacitors like the single-phase motor, and I did not see a cooling fan. However, both
motors have similar parts, including the rotor, stator, and bearings.

Recommendation:

I recommend using the right tools to prevent damage when taking apart the
motor. If the motor is dirty, it should be cleaned for maintenance. It is also important to
ask the instructor before removing hard-to-remove parts to avoid damage.
