Water pipeline
• Clean all chilled water pipelines.
• connect the evaporator pipeline.
• Exhaust the air in the chilled water system at the highest point of this system.
• Install the pressure gauge, the thermometer and the valve in the water inlet and outlet pipes.
• Install the filter in the water inlet pipe of the evaporator.
• Install the balance valve and the flow switch at the water outlet.

Cautions
• If the washing the pipe with acid solvent, a temporary by-pass pipe shall be arranged beside
the unit for fear of damaging the evaporator.
• Never use the untreated or improperly treated system water for fear of damaging the
machine.
• Refer to Connection Diagram for Water System for the installation location of each typical
accessory on the water supply pipeline of the unit. The pipe components may vary with the
locations of connectors and water source.
• To avoid damaging the unit, do not reversely install the system water pipe. The water inlet
pipe must be connected to the water inlet connector marked with “water inlet”. The water
outlet pipe must be connected to the water outlet connector marked with “water outlet”.
• The exhaust valve shall be arranged at the highest point of the pipeline in order to exhaust
the air in the chilled water system.
• The water pressure of the evaporator shall not be more than 0.5 MPa (i.e. maximum working
pressure) for fear of damaging the parts and components on the chilled water side of the
unit.
• Before the final pipe connection of the unit, all external water supply piping systems shall
be thoroughly flushed. It is strictly prohibited to be mixed with sundry in the piping system,
otherwise our company will not be responsible for the consequences.
Connection of water pipeline

Figure 1. Installation Drawing for Typical Pipeline Fittings

The description of Figure 1 is as follows:
Pressure gauge: displaying the water inlet and outlet pressure.
Thermometer: displaying the water inlet and outlet temperature.
Balance valve: controlling the water flow.
Shutoff valve: used for disconnecting the host unit and the water pump when maintaining. The
shutoff valves are required to be installed on the water inlet and outlet pipes.
Filter: preventing the evaporator from being contaminated and blocked.
Drain valve: draining the residual water in the pipeline when the machine is shut down.
Tree-way valve: used when the evaporator is cleaned.

Cautions
• All units must be equipped with the filters which can filter the particles with the diameter larger
than 1 mm to ensure that the impurities cannot enter the evaporator.
• Never use the untreated or improperly treated system water for fear of damaging the unit.
Otherwise, TRANE will not be responsible for the unit damage therefrom.
• After the installation of water pipeline is completed, please firstly close the shutoff valves 2 and 3,
open the shutoff valves 1 and 4, the open the water pump, and flush the debris in the water pipe
residual in the water pipe with water onto the filter; then close the shutoff valves 1 and 4, remove
the filter and cleanup the dirt on the filter, and reinstall the filter. Repeat the above operation till
there is no dirt on the filter. Therefore, the evaporator can be prevented from being blocked.
• The chiller water pipe must be insulted to prevent condensation. If the pipeline may be exposed
below 0 ℃, the pipeline must be equipped with the heating resistor.
• When the ambient temperature is below 16℃ in winter, do not cut off the power supply, and
preheat the unit 24 hours ahead of start-up, otherwise the compressor will be damaged.

Principle Description
1. In order to avoid pipe rupture caused by the excessive pressure inside the system pipeline
when the ambient temperature changes and prevent the pneumatic hammer from occurring
in the pipeline, a pressure water tank is added on the pipe system.
2. To avoid the internal pressure is too high or low inside the pipeline, a water compensation
valve and a drain valve are added. When the pressure is lower than 0.6 bar, the water
compensation valve will be automatically opened for water compensation; when the pressure
is higher than 5 bars, the drain valve will automatically open the drain pipe for drainage.
3. The water compensation pressure can be adjusted according to actual conditions.

Electrical Installation

Electrical Wiring
• Connect the power wire to the main terminal board (TB) of the distribution box for the unit.
• Connect the control panel with the main control board of the unit through the control panel
(indoor mounted) connecting cable. See pages 18-24.
• If the unit is not provided with the water pump, connect the control wire of the chilled water
pump to the corresponding terminal of the chilled water pump.
• Ground the unit, the chilled water pump motor (for the unit with water pump) and all devices
to be grounded.
• If the electric heater is provided, connect the power wire and the control wire to the terminal
TB2 of the electric heater.
• If the two-way valve of the fan coil is used for interlocking control, it is necessary to set SW2-
7(N Type) or SW1-7(H Type) to “ON” on the control board and connect the interlocking point
(dry contact) between the control box terminals 12(N Type) or 19(H Type) and U.
• Connect the flow switch between the control box connecting terminals U and 15 of the unit.

Warning
• To prevent injury or death, disconnect electrical power supply before completing wiring
connections to the unit.

Caution
• The terminals can be connected only through the copper conductors so as to avoid corrosion
or overheating. Refer to the electrical parameter table for the minimum current, the fuse
specifications and the electrical specifications of the motor.

Power Supply
Please refer to the wiring diagram on the cover plate of the control box for the unit. The installer
shall provide a power supply with correct voltage and a suitable breaker for the unit. The
variation of input power should be limited at ±10%.

Cautions
For the 380V~ unit adopts the scroll compressor, the phase reversing and loss protection
controller is installed which should be checked with electricity connection before start-up.
If the green light of the phase reversing and loss protection controller in the control box is on, it
means the phase sequence is right; red light being on means the phases of power wiring should
be exchanged; and the yellow light means lacking phase which need check with electricity
disconnection.
In any case that the phases are reversed or lacked, the unit will shut down its operation and
start-up automatically.

Pre-Start-up

Voltage Range
The power supply of the unit must comply with the operating power supply marked on the
nameplate of this unit, and the supply voltage and the voltage imbalance between phases must
be within the following scope. The voltage between phases shall be measured, and the voltage
reading must be within the allowable voltage tolerance (±10%) shown on the nameplate of
this unit. If the voltage between any two phases is not within this tolerance, the electric power
company shall be notified to improve before operate this unit. Improper voltage will result in
the disorder of control function and shorten the service life of various electrical components and
compressor motors.

Voltage Imbalance
If the voltage imbalance between any two phases in the three-phase power system is too high, it
will cause motor overheating and motor failure. The maximum permissible imbalanced voltage
is 2%, and the voltage imbalance is defined as follows:
100x|Va-Vd|
Voltage imbalance % = Va

Wherein
Va=(V1+V2+V3)/3(average voltage)
V1,V2,V3=line-to-line voltage
Vd=maximum line-to-line voltage deviated from Va

Water Flow
The chilled water flow through the unit must be between the upper and lower limits listed in
Table 1. If the chilled water flow entering the evaporator is lower than the lower limit, it will
cause discontinuous flow, reduce the heat transfer effect and cause the expansion valve out of
control or abnormal low pressure shutdown. On the contrary, if the water flow is higher than the
upper limit, the parts and components inside the evaporator will be eroded.

Table 1. Water Flow Unit: m3/h

Water Pressure Drop

The water pressure difference between the water inlet and outlet ends of the unit is measured
to obtain the external head under this water volume, and this external head shall be basically
shown in External Head Curve. If the standard unit including the water pump is used, refer to
External Head Curve for the design of the pipeline system. If the unit (the water pump is installed
outside the unit) excluding the water pump is used, the internal water pressure drop of the unit
shall be basically shown in Unit Water Pressure Drop Curve. If the unit excluding the water pump
is used, refer to Unit Water Pressure Drop Curve for the design of the pipeline system.

22
Pre-Start-up

Inspection Items before Start-up

• Inspect the connection of all wires. All electrical contacts shall keep clean and tight.
• Inspect whether the supply voltage of the unit is normal.
• Fill with water in the chilled water circuit. Keep the exhaust valve of the system open when
filling with water. Close the exhaust valve after filling with water.
• Short-circuit the flow switch wire, and test the water system.
• Switch on the main power supply, and press ON/OFF button on the control panel to start the
unit. At this time, the water pump should be started, and water is circulated in the chilled
water system. Inspect for leakage at all pipe connections.
• Adjust the water flow in the chilled water circuit, and inspect the external water pressure (for
the standard unit) or evaporator pressure drop (for the unit including the water pump) of the
unit.
• Stop the operation of water pump. Turn off all power supplies.
• Connect the flow switch to the contact on the terminal board of the control box.

Caution
When the water pump operates, adjust the water flow to 50% of the Rated flow, and adjust the
contact of the flow switch to open circuit. Please use the ohmmeter to verify the on and off of
the switch contact.

Warning
When the ambient temperature is below 16℃ in winter, do not cut off the power supply, and
preheat the unit 24 hours ahead of start-up, otherwise the compressor will be damaged.

following items to ensure the normal operation of the unit:
1. Inspect whether the water flow and water pressure readings of the unit are stable and
within the normal range.
2. Test the high and low pressures of the unit. During the normal operation, the low pressure
shall be 85-145 psig (0.586-1.0 MPa), and the high pressure shall be 290-500 psig (2.0-3.45
MPa).
3. Inspect the current reading of the compressor.
4. Inspect the power supply.
5. Measure the system superheat degree.
In ARI conditions (water inlet temperature of 12.2 ℃, water outlet temperature of 6.7 ℃,
ambient temperature of 35 ℃), the normal system superheat of each circuit is 5-8 ℃. The
superheat measured on any circuit is beyond this range, the superheat setting on the
expansion valve shall be regulated to obtain a proper reading. Wait for 15 to 30 minutes to
make the new set value stable after each adjustment of expansion valve.
6. Measure the system sub-cooling degree.
In ARI conditions, the normal system sub-cooling degree of each circuit is 5-10 ℃. If the
sub-cooling degree measured on any circuit is beyond this range, necessary adjustment
shall be made after the inspection of circuit superheat. If the superheat is normal but the
sub-cooling degree is abnormal, please contact the professional maintenance personnel.
7. If the system leakage is found, the leakage point shall be found out to repair, and then
the gaseous refrigerant shall be charged into the circuit. When the unit operates, the
refrigerant is charged from the low pressure pipe till the operating pressure is normal. If
the operating pressure is low, and the sub-cooling degree is low, it will indicate that the
refrigerant is insufficient.
8. If the operating pressure shows that the refrigerant is excessive, the refrigerant shall be
recycled slowly at the liquid pipe (to minimize the loss of refrigerant oil as far as possible).
9. The start and stop unit below 4 times in an hour.
• Make sure all temperature sensors are installed at the correct position, and the capillary
tubes of the temperature sensors must be firmly fixed in order to avoid vibration and
abrasion.
• Inspect the unit and remove the wastes, the tools and the parts. Fix all shell plate metal parts
including the control panel and the compressor access plate, and install all screws to the
original places.

Long-term Shutdown
• If this system is not used for a long time, the followings shall be done before shutdown:
1. Inspect whether the refrigerant pipe leaks or not. If any, be sure to repair it.
2. Maintain the water pump and the air conditioning equipment as recommended by the
manufacturer.
3. Empty the circulating water in the system, unscrew the water drainage opening in the
water supply and return circuit, disassemble the side panel of the unit, unscrew the water

29
Unit Operation

drainage opening at the bottom of the water pump and the shell and tube heat exchanger
to ensure that the circulating water is drained off.
4. Turn off the power switches of the unit and water pump.

Cautions
• In winter, it is necessary to close the water supply valves of all evaporators, open the drain
valve and the exhaust valve on the unit pipeline to drain the water in the evaporator, and then
install the drain plug. For the ultra-thin ceiling unit, first drain off the water in the pipeline,
and then open the drain valve at the bottom to drain off the residual water in the evaporator.
If the water in the chilled water pipe cannot be fully drained off, the proper antifreeze liquid
can be injected to prevent the residual water from being frozen and thus damaging the unit.

Start this System after Long-term Shutdown

1. Open the valves of the water return and supply pipes, and fill with clear water into the chilled
water pipe. Be sure to exhaust when filling with water. After the system is filled with water,
close the exhaust valve.
2. Short-circuit the wire of the flow switch to measure the water system.
3. Turn on the power switch of the unit.
4. Press ON/OFF button on the control panel to start the unit. When the chilled water is
circulated in the water system, inspect whether all pipe connectors leaks or not.
5. Adjust the water flow of the chilled water pipe through the balance valve, and inspect the
water pressure of the unit.
6. Adjust the flow switch (installed on the water outlet pipe of the unit) to ensure the normal
operation.
7. Press ON/OFF button on the control panel to start or stop the unit.
8. Reconnect the wire of the flow switch.
At this time, the unit can normally operate.

Caution
When the water pump operates, adjust the water flow to the half of the maximum flow, and
disconnect the contact of the flow switch. Please use the ohmmeter to verify on and off of the
switch contact.

System Protection
Low-pressure protection (LP1, LP2) (N Type Unit Only)
The unit is under the protection of the low pressure switch. When the operating pressure is lower
than 21±7 psig (0.1145±0.048 MPa), the operation of compressor will be stopped; when the
operating pressure is up to 36±7 psig (0.248±0.048 MPa), the compressor will be automatically
reset. There will be 2-minute short circuit when starting to avoid unnecessary shutdown.

High-pressure protection (HP1, HP2)

The unit is under the protection of the high pressure switch. When the high pressure is higher
than 602±22 psig (4.15±0.15 MPa), the operation of compressor will be stopped; when the
pressure is reduced to 479±22 psig (3.303±0.152 MPa), the compressor will be automatically
reset.

30
Unit Operation

Function of antifreezing in winter

When the unit is in the standby mode in winter and the water temperature is lower than the
set antifreezing temperature in winter, the unit automatically starts antifreezing operation, and
“AP” is displayed. Thus, when the unit is in the standby mode in winter when it is easy to
freeze, the power supply of the unit shall be switched on.

Antifreezing of shell and tube heat exchanger

When the water temperature is lower than 3 ℃ in the cooling mode, the compressor will be
turned off, the water pump continues to run, and “E3” is displayed.

Motor overload protection

• Compressor motor overload and overheat protection.
• Water pump motor overload protection.
• Fan motor overload protection.
• Temperature probe protection.
If the temperature probe fails, the system will give an alarm and stop.
*All alarm protection is manually reset. It is necessary to remove the fault and then press Reset
key or restart or shut down to recover the system.

Low suction pressure protection (cooling mode) ) (H Type Unit Only)

When the low pressure of any system is lower than 620kPa in the cooling mode, the system
shall be continuously detected for 60 seconds; if the low pressure is still below 620 kPa, the
compressor of this system shall be forcibly turned off, otherwise the compressor will continue to
run. Judgment is not performed in the first 3 minutes of initial operation of any compressor for
any system; judgment is not performed during the defrosting period.
This protection is allowed to occur once at most within 1 hour; if this protection occurs twice
within 1 hour, shut down and give an alarm, and display the code “78” (A system) or “7A” (B
system) on the single unit controller.

Suction anti-freezing protection

In the cooling mode, if the following conditions are met, the compressor will be turned off, the
electrical heater for the water circuit will be started, the water pump will continue to run, and the
code “E4” will be displayed on the single unit controller.
1. When the suction temperature of any system is lower than or equal to -3 ℃, start counting,
and meet the above conditions after 30 seconds;
2. When the water outlet temperature is higher than or equal to the refrigeration antifreezing exit
temperature (coil/plate type heat exchanger), the electrical heater for the water circuit is stopped.
When this fault occurs, the refrigeration plate type heat exchanger antifreezing locking time
is locked; after the refrigeration plate type heat exchanger antifreezing locking time is up, if all
suction temperature is higher than or equal to 3 ℃, this fault can be reset through the single unit
controller or the centralized controller. After reset, the water pump will still continue to run and
then shut down.
The low suction temperature protection will be shielded within 30 seconds after any compressor
is started.

High temperature protection(cooling mode) (H Type Unit Only)

In the cooling mode, if the fin temperature of any system is higher than 68 ℃ for 5 seconds, the
fin temperature will be considered too high, and the unit will be shut down and give an alarm.

31
Unit Operation

The fault code is “98”.

In the cooling mode, when the fin temperature of any system is lower than or equal to 58 ℃, the
compressor of this system is allowed to run.

Ambient temperature over range protection (H Type Unit Only)

The ambient temperature range for the unit to reasonably run is 15 to 48 ℃ for cooling and -15
to 25 ℃ for heating. If beyond the range when starting, prohibit to start and report a fault code;
if beyond the range for 3 minutes after starting, automatically shut down and report a fault code.
The fault code is “87”.

Automatic set heating temperature adjustment protection (H Type Unit Only)

In the heating mode, when the ambient temperature is lower than 0 ℃, the set heating
temperature is set by the controller according to the following formula, and the user has no right
to set the water temperature:
a) When the ambient temperature is higher than or equal to -15 ℃ and lower than 0 ℃, the set
heating temperature is equal to ambient temperature*0.667+50;
b) If the ambient temperature is lower than -15℃, the set heating temperature is equal to 40 ℃.
The set heating temperature is updated every 30 minutes according to the ambient temperature,
and is increased or reduced by 1 ℃ each time.
When the heating is started, if the ambient temperature is higher than or equal to 0 ℃ and the
set heating temperature is lower than 45 ℃, the set heating temperature will be automatically
changed to the factory set value (45 ℃).

Flow protection
To avoid the evaporator freezing caused by the reduction of water flow, a flow switch (or other
flow sensing devices) shall be installed on the evaporator water pipe. Its set value must ensure
that the operation of compressor will be stopped immediately if the water volume is lower than
70% of the system design full flow.

Unit Operation (N Type)

Temperature sensor (TH1)
The temperature sensor (TH1) senses the water inlet temperature of the system as the basis for
compressor start or stop in the refrigeration and Heating modes.

Cooling mode:
Dual system
When the system is started, the water pump operates immediately. Two minutes later, the water
pump continues to operate. When the water return temperature is over 13 ℃, No.1 compressor
will be started. One minute later, if the water return temperature is over 15 ℃, No.2 compressor
will be started. If the cooling requirement is reached, the water return temperature will be
reduced to 11 ℃, and No.1 compressor will be stopped. If the water return temperature is
continuously reduced to 10 ℃, No.2 compressor will be stopped. Then, the load is increased, the
water return temperature rises to 13 ℃, and No.1 compressor is restarted. If the water return
temperature continuously rises to 15 ℃, No.2 compressor will run. Unless the unit is shut down,
the water pump will keep running.

Module Control
The single-unit cascade system is a system which can realize the centralized control function
by connecting multiple single units through the network cable. The centralized controller can
operate any cascaded single unit and can operate all cascaded single units by group. The
functions of any cascaded single unit are the same and independent of each other.
The module control system is a system which can realize the centralized control function by
connecting one host unit and multiple slave units through the network cable. The module control
system shares a water system, the host unit undertakes the operation of the system pump, all
slave units share this water system, and the system automatically adjusts the energy balance,
controls the time-sharing startup of the units, automatically loads and unloads the energy and
realizes the average wear among the units.

Control Requirements
No.0 unit is the host unit, and other units are slave units.
All units share a waterway system.
For N Type unit, all slave units on the network are subject to the water inlet temperature of No.0
unit;

45
Module Control System

For H Type unit, all slave units on the network are subject to the water outlet temperature of No.0
unit.
The host unit is provided with the system pump and the basic input and output.
The host unit is connected with the water pump and detects the water flow switch; the slave
units are not connected with the water pump but still connected with the water flow switch for
detecting the water flow switch. If the water flow switch of a slave unit issues an alarm, this slave
unit will be automatically turned off.
The slave units are not provided with the pump and the interlocking two-way valve, is only
provided with the basic input and output.
If the water pump of the host unit issues an alarm, all units will be shut down. The slave units
have no water pump alarm function.
The slave units are subject to the water outlet temperature of the host unit.
After receiving the all-unit start command, the units will be started up by delaying for 60s+unit
number*16s.
After receiving the all-unit shutdown command, the units on the network will be shut down
according to unit number*8s, but the host unit will not execute this shutdown command and
only accept the single-unit shutdown command.
Do not start up any host unit or slave unit or switch the mode by using the single unit controller;
it can view and set the parameters of the unit only.

System Operation
System startup: the centralized controller executes the group startup operation.
System shutdown: the centralized controller executes the group shutdown operation.
The mode operation can be switched only in the group operation.

Implementation Method
Grouping of outdoor units
1) The outdoor units are grouped by unit number.
Group 1 No.0 unit No5. unit No10. unit No.15 unit No.20 unit
Group 2 No.1 unit No.6 unit No.11 unit No.16 unit No.21 unit

Group 4 No.3 unit No.8 unit No.13 unit No.18 unit No.23 unit
Group 5 No.4 unit No.9 unit No.14 unit No.19 unit No.24 unit
Notes: installation instructions: if the quantity of outdoor units is 6, the numbers shall be 0, 1,
2, 5, 6 and 7, which are grouped into 3 groups; if the quantity of outdoor units is 4, the numbers
shall be 0, 1, 2 and 3, which are grouped into 4 groups, namely, the numbers shall be arranged
by matrix as soon as possible.
2) The uploading and downloading conditions are classified into 5 conditions.

46
Module Control System

Condition 1 Determine on the basis of the set temperature.

Condition 2 Determine on the basis of increasing the set temperature by 0.5 degree

Condition 4 Determine on the basis of increasing the set temperature by 1.5 degrees
(refrigeration).
Condition 5 Determine on the basis of increasing the set temperature by 2.0 degrees
(refrigeration).
Note: the heating conditions are opposite.
3) The uploading and downloading conditions of each group are sent by the centralized
controller:
The addition of parameter 0 following the condition change command expresses that the group
1 corresponds to the condition 1, ……, and the group 5 corresponds to the condition 5;
The addition of parameter 1 following the condition change command expresses that the group
1 corresponds to the condition 2, ……, and the group 5 corresponds to the condition 1;
The addition of parameter 2 following the condition change command expresses that the group
1 corresponds to the condition 3, ……, and the group 5 corresponds to the condition 2;
The parameter of condition change command is 0-4.
Note: if the sum of modular host unit and slave units is less than 5, the parameter of condition
change command is 0-(the sum of modular host unit and slave units minus 1).
If the unit is not shut down, the centralized controller will send the change conditions every 24
hours.
If the outdoor unit is started up each time, the centralized controller will send a change condition
command.

Handling of outdoor unit faults

If the slave units receive the water pump and water flow switch fault command of the host unit,
the slave units will be shut down; the slave units will display the host system faults.
If other devices of the host unit are faulty and the water pump is not faulty, the water pump can
not be shut down.
The faults of the slave units shall be correspondingly handled as the case may be.

Building Control System
Mini-ICS system is a highly intelligent centralized control system developed by Trane for Unitary
(small and medium sized) units. Mini-ICS system can manage the linkage control of multiple
indoor units and outdoor units, the loading and unloading control of multiple indoor unit
modules, the centralized control of multiple outdoor units as well as the centralized control of
multiple indoor units; if Mini-ICS system is connected with Modbus communication module,
the monitoring of local computer and the remote control of Internet can be realized, i.e. remote
setting of room temperature, operation mode, startup and shutdown as well as fault alarm.
The system can be classified into a single-master controller system and a multi-master controller
system. Wherein, the single-master controller system is suitable for the air conditioning comfort
control of multiple rooms for a single family; the multi-master controller system is suitable for
the control of multiple units for the small commercial system. This centralized control system is
composed of a centralized controller, a Modbus communication module, a concentrator, units,
etc. It can perform the remote centralized control of whole air conditioning system, and provide
the necessary data for BA system to ensure that it is connected to the building automatic control
system.

Modbus module (optional) -- connecting with the third-party BA

system
Modbus module is a professionally designed protocol conversion device and interface, through
which the multi-master controller system is connected. One Modbus module corresponds to one
centralized controller. This module can convert Trane internal communication protocol into an
open Modbus communication protocol for the use of the third-party system.
Modbus modules are usually used for the multi-master controller system. The module uplink and
downlink adopt RS485 network interface. Each module corresponds to one centralized controller.

Maintenance
Shutdown
If the system is required to be shut down for a short time, just press the key “ON/OFF” on the
control panel. If the system is required to be shut down for a long time, the main power supply
shall be switched off. If there are no additional antifreezing protection measures (not this unit)
taken on the water pipeline. The water shall be drained off through the drain valve on the water
pipeline. Unscrew the water outlet in the water supply and return circuit, disassemble the unit
side panel, and unscrew the water outlets at the bottom of the water pump and the shell and
tube heat exchanger to ensure that the circulating water is drained off.

Startup after long-term shutdown

If the unit is started up again after long-term shutdown, the qualified professional shall finish the
following items:
1. Execute various operations in “Annual Maintenance”.
2. Discharge air in the water circuit and fill with water.
3. Open the shutoff valve on the water circuit.
4. Inspect whether the refrigerant pipeline is loosened.
5. Start the host unit.
6. Inspect whether all components normally operate.
7. Make the system operate for 15-20 minutes in the full load condition, and inspect the oil level
and various pressures.
8. Inspect the high and low pressures are normal.
The daily maintenance and service shall be performed by qualified professionals. In order to
prolong the service life of the unit and reduce the possibility of failure, please regularly perform
the necessary maintenance for the unit.
Please record the service behaviors of the unit weekly, and keep maintenance records. This
makes for the unit fault diagnosis of the maintenance personnel.

Weekly maintenance contents

1. Inspect the compressor in the shutdown mode.
2. Inspect the host unit, for example, whether there is abnormal compressor noise, whether the
distribution box is loosened, whether the pipeline leaks and abnormally vibrates, and so on.
3. Record the pressure, the temperature and other parameters as well as the maintenance time.
Annual maintenance:
1. Inspect the valve and the pipeline on the water circuit. If necessary, please clean the
water filter, and analyze the water quality. If it is necessary to clean the water circuit, the
professional shall assist in cleaning.
2. Clear the corroded surface and paint again, and inspect whether the door of the distribution
box is airtight.
3. Inspect whether the water pipeline is tight, inspect the water pump and its relevant
components, and check whether the antifreezing agent is enough. If necessary, charge the
antifreezing agent.
4. Perform the items in the weekly maintenance.
5. Inspect the electromagnetic contactor.
6. Inspect whether the control device is set and acts correctly.
7. Inspect whether the refrigerant pipe is locked.
8. Inspect the insulation of the motor coil.

Maintenance

Notes:
• Prior to any contact, please be sure to switch off the main power supply, otherwise it may
cause casualties and unit damage.
• The maintenance and service work completed by the qualified professionals is very important
and shall be performed annually or every 2000 operating hours.
Cleaning of condenser
Please use a brush or water column to clean the condenser. Flush the condenser with the water
column from inside to outside. If the pipe bank is too dirty, please contact the professional
cleaning personnel.
Note:
• Do not clean the condenser with steam; otherwise, it will lead to the rise of internal pressure
to cause the refrigerant to leak through the relief valve.
Cleaning of shell and tube heat exchanger
Trane recommends to clean the shell and tube heat exchanger by the chemical cleaning method.
The cleaning agent shall be hot phosphoric acid solution, and its use conditions are as follows:
50-60 ℃, concentration of 15%, and cyclic cleaning for 3-6 hours.

Warning!
• Do not clean the shell and tube heat exchanger with the toxic or corrosive cleaning fluid.
