The Bangalore Baptist Hospital is a vibrant 340 bed multi
speciality hospital, established in 1973 by the Foreign
Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, USA.

The hospital is the first mission hospital in India to be


accredited with NABH and NABL. To enable quality
healthcare, the hospital conducts many educational
programs medical, at undergraduate and post-graduate
levels.

Thank you for taking time to go through this prospectus of the Nursing Institute
(Rebekah Ann Naylor Institute of Nursing), Bangalore Baptist Hospital (BBH).

The College of Nursing came into existence in the year 2011 and is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences,

Karnataka and is recognized by Karnataka Nursing Council and Indian Nursing Council

B) Rebekah Ann Naylor School of Nursing (General Nursing Midwifery Programme)


Rebekah Ann Naylor School of Nursing was established in 1996 to accomplish the training objectives of the hospital and

is named after a pioneer missionary. The school offers a 3 years Diploma programme in General Nursing and Midwifery

which is recognized by Indian Nursing Council, The Board of Nursing Education South India Board (Christian Medical

Association of India) and Karnataka Nursing Council.

One of the objectives of the programme is focus towards young women specifically from the economically challenged

segment of society in order to provide an opportunity for a career and a noble profession. The institution takes care of

the accommodation and offers an assured employment and scope for better opportunities to our graduates. Having

graduated more than 500 students so far, the school aspires to continue to accomplish its mission and is striving to carry

it forward to transform the lives of young women.

The faculty of the Nursing Institute believe that,

Nursing is an integral part of the service rendered by Bangalore Baptist Hospital and contributes to its healing ministry

which exists to serve people in the Spirit of Jesus Christ;

Eligibility Requirements
Gen e ra l N u rs i n g a n d M i d w i fery Programme
Duration: Three years

Admission is open to all candidates who fulfill the following criteria:

1. The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years as on 31st December of the year in which admission is sought.

2. Minimum education:

• 10+2 class passed preferably Science (PCB) & English with aggregate of 40% marks. OR

• 10+2 in Arts (Mathematics, Biotechnology, Economics, Political Science, History, Geography, Business
Studies,Accountancy, Home Science, Sociology, Psychology,Philosophy) and English Core/English Elective or
Health care Science - Vocational stream ONLY, passing out from recognized Board under AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/
SSCE/HSCE or other equivalent Board with 40% marks. OR

• 10+2 vocational ANM under CBSE Board or other equivalent Board from the School and recognized by Indian
Nursing Council with 40% marks. OR

• Registered as ANM with State Nursing Registration Council. OR

• Students qualified in 10+2 Arts or Science examination or Health care Science – Vocational stream ONLY conducted
by National Institute of Open School with 40% marks.

3. Ability to read, write and speak English since the medium of instruction is English

4. Student shall be medically fit.

Basi c B . S c n u rs i n g P ro g ra m me:
Duration: Four years

Admission is open to all candidates who fulfill the following criteria:

1. The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years as on 31st December of the year in which admission is sought.

2. Minimum education:

• 10+2 class passed with Science (PCB) & English must have obtained a minimum of 45% respectively.Those
candidates who belong to SC/ST or other backward classes must have obtained in PCB taken together in
qualifying examination a minimun of 40 % from a recognized Board under AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE or
other equivalent Board.

• Students appearing in 10+2 examination in Science conducted by National Institute of Open School are also eligible
on the base of percentage as mentioned above.

3. Ability to read, write and speak English since the medium of instruction is English.

4. Student shall be medically fit.

Application Procedure
The duly filled application form along with the copies of documents listed below should reach The Principal, Institute of
Nursing Bangalore Baptist Hospital Bellary Road, Hebbal, Bengaluru – 560024

- For B. Sc programme: on or before 30th June 2020

- For GNM Programme: on or before 30th June, 2020

The D o c u m e n ts to b e e n c lo s ed include:
• Legibly filled in application form in applicant’s own handwriting

• Copies of secondary School Leaving Certificate / Mark list

• Copies of XII/ PUC certificate and Mark list/ Transfer Certificate (TC)

• Recent passport size photos (5x4 cm) 5nos.

• Medical fitness certificate.

Method of Selection
1. A written examination will be conducted to test the candidate’s knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English,
General Knowledge and logical thinking

2. Short listed candidates will be called for an interview on the following day

Basic B.Sc Nursing
The written entrance examination for (2 hours) will be
starting at 9.00 am on Tuesday 7th July, 2020. The short
listed candidates will be interviewed on 9th & 10th July
2020.

General Nursing and Midwifery


The written entrance examination (2 hours) will be
starting at 9.00 am on Tuesday 14th July, 2020. The short
listed candidates will be interviewed on 16th & 17th July
2020. Candidates must produce all original certificates
during the time of interview otherwise admission may
be deferred.

Candidates must be prepared to pay the fees to secure


the admission soon after the selection list is published.

Admission
General Nursing and Midwifery:
Selected candidates should report at the Nursing
Institute at 8.30 am on Tuesday, 1st September 2020
with their original documents, including TC.

Basic B.Sc Nursing:


The selected candidates must confirm their admission
by paying full academic fees (non refundable) If not
candidates on waiting list will be called.

Students from other states should produce an eligibility


certificate from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health
Science, Karnataka.

Fees & Payment


All money transaction will be through business office in the hospital. Any drafts/ Cheques should be drawn in favour of
“Bangalore Baptist Hospital” . Mess fees must be paid to the canteen before 5th of every month. Receipts should be kept
safely and produced whenever necessary. All fees are subject to change.

Health Check-up
Students will undergo a detailed health checkup after admission and every year thereafter. It is essential that nursing

students should be immunized against Hepatitis B. Certain medical conditions which would interfere with successful

completion of the course may result in rejection of admission/ discontinuation of the course. This will be at the discretion

of the selection committee / administrative committee.

Uniform
The uniform is prescribed by the Institute and will be made available to the students. Students are not
permitted to wear any form of jewellery when they are in uniform. Small ear studs are permitted. Hair

must be tied up. Dress code: Students are expected to be modestly dressed.

Academic & Clinical Evaluation


All students are expected to maintain high standards of academic and clinical performance. Regular unit
tests and clinical evaluation will be conducted to assess the performance of each student. Repeated poor
performance may result in delay in promotion or dismissal from the programme, as per the decision of

the evaluation committee.

Internal Assessment Attendance


Marks scored in unit tests, midterm examination, model Students are expected to be regular and punctual for
examination and practical examination will be considered classes, clinical duty and field posting.Unauthorized
for the internal assessment. leave and absenteeism will not be entertained.

External Assessment
Board/University examinations are conducted at the end of every academic year. Only those students who
have passed in the internal examination will be eligible to appear for Board/ University examinations.

Leave Accommodation &


Vacation will be given as per the curriculum in Board

the principal at the time of admission.

All students are encouraged to become active members of the Students Nurses Association (S.N.A) and
Alumni Association of Bangalore Baptist Hospital.

Extra Curricular Activities


Students have wide opportunities to participate in social and community affairs organized by the
organization. Daily newspapers are made available. Students are allowed to watch TV on weekend.
Facilities are provided for various games and sports. Competitions are held in sports, games, cultural,
essay writing, quiz, poster making, rangoli, fashion show, flower decoration, hairstyling etc. Nurses day

is celebrated along with the cultural week.

Visiting Time and Weekends


Visitors are allowed only on Saturday and Sunday from 1.00 pm - 6.00 pm

Students are allowed to go home only two weekends in a month with prior written permission taken by the

parents from the principal.

Withdrawal or Discontinuation
If a student withdraws from the course within fifteen days of the date of admission, one-third of the total
amount paid at the time of admission will be forfeited.

Students who want to withdraw voluntarily after 15 days of commencement of the class shall be required
to pay full fees for the year.

A student who is dismissed/terminated due to unsatisfactory conduct or poor performance in studies will
not be eligible for any refund.

The institute reserves the right to dismiss anyone whose performance or conduct is not found satisfactory

during the period of training.
