Petrophysics – Quanti.Elan
• Control population of parameters by initialization method: The temperature, pressure and
salinity dependent parameters used by Quanti.Elan, are computed per depth by the
initialization method. Quanti.Elan enables automatic population of these parameters. You
can now control population of these parameters by right-click options on the parameter cell.
Through the option Do not populate from initializations, you desynchronize the parameter
from initialization results, so that the cell value does not change when initialization results
are updated. Through the option Populate from initializations, you synchronize the
parameter with initialization results, so that the cell value gets updated when initialization
results change.
This new functionality enables efficient building of models containing both the initialized
parameters and your customized parameters.
• Copy individual parameter values across Quanti.Elan models: You can now copy an
individual Quanti.Elan parameter value from a zone, to all zones for which a model has
been defined. In a multi well or dataset model, you can copy a Quanti.Elan parameter
value from a zone in a well, to similar zones of all the other wells.
Petrophysics - 3D Petrophysics
• Pixel Inversion Processing with Enhanced Resolution (PIPER) now available for SLB LWD
tools: The PIPER solution is now available for SLB LWD propagation resistivity logs. This
inversion corrects the logs for shoulder bed and dip effect and provides Rt in formations
with apparent dip of up to 70 degrees. It does not require a formation model defined
beforehand. PIPER is currently available to SLB customers, as a processing service only.
High angle well evaluation:
Techlog 2022.2.1
• Undo in Local Layer Model: You can now undo the editions that you have performed on the
3DPH local layer model. This includes changes done on both layer geometry (boundary
positions, and dips) and layer log properties. You could also redo the actions which were
most recently undone.
• Visualization improvements: The DOI mask visualization and display settings have been
enhanced. This ensures alignment of the mask display with local layer model limits and also
enhances intuitiveness. Aditionally, the display of inversion and forward modeling progress
bars have been enhanced so they no longer are displayed behind other dialog boxes.
• 2D Map updates: You can now display stacked 2D maps over your desired depth interval.
This helps you to visualize an averaged map and NMR porosity value. You can also assign
display palettes and adjust their limits.
• LowRep develop end points method updates: The Hydrocarbon corrected outputs are now
assigned to consistent families. Additionally, the sand and shale points on the cross plots
are now connected by a line, for improved visualization & correlation.
• Perform inversion of tectonic strains that do honor observations like closure pressure,
breakdown pressure, breakout width, among others: You can now interact with the
posterior plot and trigger the calculation of the wellbore stability to verify how the selected
solution looks in context with the observations.
• Enhanced single depth calculation within Stochastic wellbore stability: Now there is the
ability to calculate sensitivities around diferent combinations of inclination and azimuth as
well as the default setting taken from the trajectory.
• Update of the Stochastic WBS plugin (2022.2.1).
Techlog 2022.2.1
Qt
• The version of Qt used in Techlog has been updated to 5.15.2. If your plugins are
embedding additional Qt modules for customizing the interface, you must update Qt DLLs
to the same version as Techlog and regenerate your plugin.
• You can now use 3D plots such as Wellbore Centric Grid, 3D Field viewer, 3D DTS, 3D cross-
plot single and multiwell, 3D Sammon projection and 3D Dendogram (IPSOM) with
subscription with no GPU.
Python
• The Python compiler has been upgraded from 3.6 to 3.9. The compiled python scripts (.pyc)
available in Techlog were recompiled with Python 3.9. If you have any compiled python
scripts (.pyc) being used, please recompile them with new compiler version.
• New API to access and manipulate AWI from Techlog or any python AWI. When using the
API, you will get information about the different components of AWI and you can also change
them. For the details please refer to the User Guide.
Studio
Domains
Rock physics
• New workflow of Advanced Rock Modeling (Technology Preview) has been introduced as
with an integrated approach to create rock physics models for determining elastic and
acoustic properties of rocks from petrophysical inputs, such as mineral volume fractions,
porosity, and fluid saturations, directly from interpretations performed using modules such
as Quanti and Quanti-Elan. The rock model workflow can be used both for single as well as
multi-well environment. The functionality also offers an optimization workflow which uses a
simulated annealing inversion algorithm to determine optimum rock model parameters to
propagate to nearby wells in the field.
Petrophysics – Quanti.Elan
• Use of shale resistivity by Dual water Elan equation: In Quanti.Elan, you can now use shale
resistivity (Rsh) , when working with the Dual Water Elan equation. When you choose that
dual water Elan uses the shale resistivity parameter, bound water conductivity is computed
for each clay from the input shale resistivity, and used in the computation accordingly.
• SW, SXO and SWE outputs from Quanti.Elan post processing: Quanti.Elan post processing
now outputs total water saturation in un-invaded and flushed zones. It also outputs
effective water saturation. The same equations as Quanti.Elan are used for computing
these new outputs.
• Quanti.Elan method property to opt for update of either wet or dry clay end points upon
update of wet clay porosity: Upon an update of wet clay porosity in Quanti.Elan, you can
now choose whether the wet or dry clay end points get updated. This is achieved through a
new method property. The default is the update of wet end points.
Petrophysics - 3D Petrophysics
High angle well evaluation:
• Tabular view in 3DPH Local Layer Model: You can now interact with the 3DPH local layer
model through the new tabular view. This window hosts the numerical representation of
the model. It provides an editable and interactive interface , which is in full
synchronization with the model. You can edit individual layer properties, fill up or down a
defined layer property to other layers, show or hide certain layer columns ; and copy the
table content to excel for subsequent use. These improve your 3DPH local layer model
workflow efficiency.
• Update of ThruBit Spectral Gamma ray method: The ThruBit Spectral Gamma ray
environmental correction method now accepts GR counts spectrums as input, instead of
average elemental yields (which was the case in Techlog 2021.2). This is aimed at alignment
with the filed data acquisition platform (Maxwell). The method also now performs borehole
Potassium correction.
