LEARNING The learners should be able to infer how the movement of particles of an object affects

OBJECTIVES 1. Define sounds
2. Cite examples soft sounds and loud sounds
3. Explain how sound is propagated
4. Relate speed of sound to the closeness of particles in a medium.

I. ELICIT ( Access prior knowledge) (5 mins) MATERIALS


Instruct student to close their eyes and listen what they hear when somebody bits
the chair. Then let them define sound. Show different instrument/ object and try them to
identify which one produce soft sound and loud sound.
II.ENGAGE ( Get the students’ minds focused on the topic ( 3 mins)
Show a video of Speed of Sound (3mins) Video clip
Answer the following question: TV/Laptop
 How sound produced?
 How sound propagated?
 Is sound can travel in a vacuum? Why?
 Is sound can travel in a solid, liquid, and gas? Why?
 Which of the three media sound travels fastest?
III. EXPLORE ( Provide students with a common experience)
Divide the class into 6 groups. Each group will focus the speed of Sound. (Group Activity:
Station to station brainstorming). Perform activity: Sound race…. Where does sound travel
fastest?
IV. EXPLAIN( Teach the concept, should include interaction between teacher and students)
 Students Presentation and Explanation (20 mins.)
 Rubrics will be used in evaluating the presentation

V. ELABORATE( Students apply the information)
 Teacher’s input downloaded video
Teacher will wrap up the lesson by showing learners a video presentation from you tube. com
on the Speed of Sound. Identify what media does sound propagate fastest.
Why sound travel fastest in solid while slowest in gas. Cite evidences that
sound travel fastest in solid than in gas.
