JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES

JOB TITLE: Production Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Production Engineer is responsible for providing leadership in the production


operations at the facility. This individual will train closely with all departments to
establish and enforce process methods that ensure operational effectiveness and
production adherence. Strong collaboration is needed across the plant and the entire
AMPI organization. This individual will create an environment of respect and
responsibility through professional communication, accountability, budget
consciousness, teamwork, quality, safety and security.

JOB DUTIES: This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be
expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem
necessary from time to time:

1. All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety
and food quality issues to personnel of authority.
2. This position has a heightened food safety and food quality responsibilities.
3. Work jointly with maintenance to identify equipment issues, establish day to day
operational priorities and improve machine uptime.
4. Facilitate production expectations with plant personnel; ensuring that goals are met
on a day to day, month to month basis.
5. Ensure that production equipment setups are completed in the timeframe
required to meet department expectations and efficiencies.
6. Monitor production cleanups. Provide analytical input to improve labor utilization
and efficiencies during sanitation processes.
7. Establish training procedures and processes that provide strategic action plans to
improve job knowledge and training.
8. Build a strong working relationship with plant personnel, providing leadership,
teaching, and effective communication methods, that ensure enforcement of
company policies and procedures.
9. Will be the liaison for the production floor software which will include addressing
system performance issues and training.
10. Provide direct support to the Safety Coordinator by assisting with changes and
updates to various policies and procedures of the safety program.
11. Review and approve department payroll.
12. Provide absentee coverage for the Natural Supervisor.
13. Participate in the annual management review of the Food Safety and Quality
system.
14. Manages competing demands and changes approach or method to best fit the
situation.
15. Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner by gathering and analyzing
information skillfully. Works well in group problem solving situations and develops
alternative solutions.
16. Creates a positive team with the ability to build morale and group commitments
to goals and objectives.
17. Ability to manage projects by creating workable plans; communicates changes
effectively and builds commitment and overcomes resistance.
18. Develops realistic action plans, by prioritizing and planning work activities. Plans
for additional resources as needed.
19. Includes staff in planning, decision-making, facilitating and process improvement.
Makes oneself available to staff, provides regular performance feedback,
develops subordinates' skills and encourages growth.
20. Ability to react well under pressure. Treats others with respect and consideration

JOB INFORMATION

POSITIONS AVAILABLE: 1
JOB TYPE: FT/Permanent/exempt position.
WAGE PER HOUR: Entry salary $55K/year.
HOURS PER WEEK: 40
WORKWEEK: They will be expected to experience life in a dairy plant, which includes
24/7 work and weekends.

SHIFTS:
BLAIR AND SANBORN

Training in the morning and work shift at nighttime, they can rotate shifts and
schedule will be shared for the following month, in advance.

Week 1: 2 on – 2 off – 3 on
Week 2: 2 off – 2 on – 3 off.

A) Morning shift: 5:00 am – 5:00 pm


B) Night shift: 5:00 pm – 5:00 am
C) Morning shift: 5:00 am – 5:00 pm
D) Night shift: 5:00 pm – 5:00 am

PAYMENT DAYS: Thursday, biweekly.


PAYMENT TYPE: Direct Deposit.
BREAK TIMES: meal break, two rest breaks.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, or other types of
Engineering plus relevant work experience in related field could apply: Food
Science, Biochemical Engineer,
• 3-5 years relevant work experience preferred/required.
• 2 years of supervisory experience required.
• Knowledge of SQF, HACCP, GMP’s, OSHA and loss control programs highly
desirable.
• Technical knowledge of fluid milk, cheese and drying operations preferred.
• Prior experience in manufacturing is a plus.

as work progresses.

DRUG TEST: Yes, employee must pass a drug test before departure from place of
recruitment. The recruitment company will schedule the appointment for the selected

Manufacturing – Work is performed in a manufacturing plant. While performing the duties


of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or
feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop,
kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee will frequently have to
walk and stand. The employee should have the ability to regularly lift up to 55lbs. The
employee must be able to push and pull up to 75lbs. Must be able to climb ladders and
work at elevations above 4 feet. Employees are regularly exposed to cold temperatures
when performing tasks in storage areas. Employees are regularly exposed to warm or hot
temperatures with moderate to high humidity levels varying based on the location of the
work area. The employee is regularly exposed to wet walking surfaces. Specific vision
abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral
vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Manufacturing - Employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock, wet work


conditions, fumes or airborne particles. Employee is occasionally exposed to warm
conditions with regular exposure to temperature conditions in excess of 100*F or cold
temperatures when working in cold storage areas. The employee is regularly exposed to
work near moving mechanical parts. Employee is regularly exposed to chemicals during
sanitation processes. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally at a high
level. The employee is not routinely exposed to weather conditions. The employee may
be exposed to very low levels of ammonia.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) – Personal protective equipment is


required depending on the job being performed, including protective eye wear, or face
shields, hearing protection, hair and beard nets, uniforms and footwear. Additional
equipment is required when working with chemicals, such as rubber gloves and use of
chemical proof aprons as appropriate for the job being performed.

- Sanborn: The housing is across the street, from the plant. Transportation not

- Blair: There is transportation to and from work from Whitehall to Blair.

FOR HOW LONG IS TRANSPORTATION PROVIDED? IS IT FREE OR AT


WORKER'S COST: While they live in housing. It is free but is subject to imputed
income when the value is above the IRS limit, for both Sanborn and Blair.

employee-only housing, not family style. Employer secures housing for up to 52 weeks,
and the worker must secure own housing before the end of this period, or before if

- Blair: Two-bedroom apartment, 2 people per bedroom.
