Materials
One survey sheet per student
Customize your worksheet by:
• Including other types of music/movies your students are interested in.
• Including any additional music/movies vocabulary that your students have learned.
Set-up (10 minutes)
At the top of the board, write Types of music and Artists. With the class, brainstorm different kinds of music and
write these on the board under Types of music. For each music type, elicit solo artists’ or bands’ names from the
students. Write these names alongside their music type under Artists.
Then write, Type of movies, Movies, Actors. Repeat the brainstorming activity.
Procedure (20 minutes)
Show the students the survey. Point to the questions and tell them they are going to read the questions and write
two new questions – indicate where to do that.
Hand out one survey sheet per student. Have the students read the questions and write their answers in the spaces
in the You column. Then have them write two original questions in the Your choice spaces. Have them fill in their
own answers.
Divide the students into pairs. Have them ask their partners the questions on the sheet. Have them write the
answers in the spaces in the Your Partner column.
Demonstrate a question with a student and ask the students follow up questions. Before getting them started, be
sure to encourage them to ask follow-up questions.
While the students work, monitor for good language used and errors to correct in feedback, after eliciting some
comments from a few students about the information they gathered.

Extension: (10 minutes)


Brainstorm -ing adjectives including those in the SB page 12. Have the students write questions about movies and
music using these adjectives. Have them ask a new partner. Have a few students report on their partner’s answers
to the class.
