Grading System
Course Requirements
The assessment of your performance in this course is through what is called authentic/alternative
assessment. Authentic/alternative assessment takes the practical approach to evaluating students’
performance in a course. From the term authentic, students are given opportunities to practice real
life/real world applications of knowledge through the likes of reflection and analysis, performance,
research, product/output, portfolio etc. In short, it does not use the usual/traditional pen and paper tests
and high-stakes examinations where students need to recall concepts and give definite answers. What you
will demonstrate is your understanding, analysis, and synthesis of the lessons. In this course, you will
apply what you learned by looking at different situations or scenarios, as well as in your personal life
through reflections using the lessons in the course.
Attendance
• Attendance will be checked at every meeting. As prescribed by University Rules, absences
should not exceed three (3) class meetings. If a student exceeds the number of allowed absences,
s/he will be dropped or will be given a grade of 5.00.
• No special consideration or make up work will be given to students who miss class activities for
no legitimate reason.
Assignments
• Assignments must follow the format indicated in each assignment guide and must be submitted
by the deadline. A deduction of three points will be imposed per day of late submission inclusive
of weekend and holidays.
• Use the American Psychological Association (APA) Publication Manual (7th edition) style in
citing sources.
Others
• An honor system will be followed in this course. After going through all the posted resources for
the first week, you have to read carefully and sign the Honor Code then submit online.
• A student caught committing plagiarism and/or using AI tools unethically will be given a
warning. The student will be asked to re-submit a non-plagiarized work, but will not receive any
point. A student caught plagiarizing for the second time will be dealt with according to the
gravity of the offense. Intellectual dishonesty is subject to disciplinary action. Cheating is an
offense punishable by either a grade of 5.00 or expulsion from the University.
• Doing other things not related to the lesson/course and similar activities are not allowed during
class sessions. In such cases, the student will be asked to leave the class.
