B. Drill

called “Spot the Clue”, and in this game, I
want you to be detectives like Conan.

slightly open.
The one minute timer now begins!
Students start to answer.

suggests the thief escaped through there.”

Thank you, ma’am.

Let us proceed to the third one.

The students raise their hands.

Yes, _______. Ma’am the answer is suspect.

Very good, _______. You got it right. Here

topic today.

Everybody, read.

And this is what you should accomplish by

the end of the lesson.
Everybody, read.

Did you get it, class? Yes, we understood, Ma’am.

IV. LESSON PROPER
E. Abstraction
Detective Conan is a very good detective.
Now, what do you think is the best
characteristic that a detective should
have? _______raised hand.

Yes, _______. A detective should be good at analyzing

every detail of the crime committed.

Very good, ______.

Now, just like Detective Conan. I want you
all to possess the characteristics of a good
detective. Because if you have it, you can
easily understand what I will discuss.
And today we will discuss about dangling
modifier.
Take note, I will ask questions in this
discussion, and if you answer, I will give
you a token, and after this class, those
who receive tokens will have prices
depending on the number of tokens
received.

Yes, ma’am.
Are we clear on that class?
Okay, _______ please read the definition
of the modifier.

A dangling modifier occurs when a

descriptive phrase or clause in a sentence
lacks a clear connection to the subject it is
meant to describe, resulting in confusion or
ambiguity. Modifiers are meant to provide
additional information about a noun, verb,
or other part of a sentence.

Did you understand, class? Yes, ma’am.

Okay, if you really understand what a

modifier is please analyze this sentence:

While driving to work, a car accident was

witnessed on the highway.

What do you think is the problem in this

sentence?
______ raised hand.
In the sentence, the intended target of the
Yes, _______. modifier is missing.

Very good, _______. Here is your token.

Thank you, ma’am.

Now, who can make this sentence correct? ______ raised hand.

Yes, _______.
While driving to work, Jane witnessed a
car accident on the highway.
Brilliant answer, ______! Here is your
token.

Thank you, ma’am.

Both of you them are right. In this
sentence, given by __________, Jane
makes the sentence correct.
Because without Jane
a car accident appears where the subject
should be, the sentence now suggests that
a car accident was driving to work. This is
an example of how dangling modifiers can
result in nonsensical sentences.
Did you now understand? Yes, ma’am.

Okay, that is good to hear.

Let us now proceed to the different
methods on how to fix a dangling modifier.
The first method is revising the main
clause.
Now, observe this sentence:

Having injured his dominant hand, it was

difficult to write the exam.

What do you think is incorrect in this

sentence? ______ raised hand.
The sentence fails to clarify whose hand
Yes, _______. was injured.

Nice answer, _______. Here is your token.

Thank you, ma’am.

In this example, it fails to clarify whose

hand was injured – it does not state the
subject of the introductory modifier Yes, ma’am.
phrase. Am I right?

Now, who can make this sentence correct?

______ raised hand.
Yes, _______.
Having injured his dominant
hand, John had difficulty writing the exam.
That is correct, ______. Here is your
token.

Thank you, ma’am.

In the corrected sentence of _________,
the subject, John, appears immediately
after the modifier phrase. That is one of the
method to fix the dangling modifier.
Did you get it class? Yes, ma’am.
Okay, let us now proceed to the second
method and it is revising the modifier
phrase.
Now, pay attention to this sentence:

Having injured his dominant hand, it was

difficult to write the exam.

Who can make this sentence correct?

______ raised hand.
Yes, _______.
Because Aries had injured his dominant
hand, it was difficult to write the exam.
Okay, that is correct ________. Here is
your token.

Thank you, ma’am.

___________ is correct. The dangling

modifier should be replaced with a
complete clause that clearly states the
subject who is doing the action to fix it.
Are we clear on that class? Yes, ma’am.

Okay, I hope you really understand the

discussion because we will be having
activities to measure your understanding
about this topic.
F. Application
At this juncture, we will have another
activity. Please read the title ______.

Now, read the mechanics of the game

_____.
Did you understand the mechanics of the
game?
Yes, ma’am. We do understand.
Okay, let us begin.
You will only have three minutes to answer
the word puzzles.
These are the word puzzles that each
group will solve to come up with the secret
message.

Okay, time starts now. The students began to answer.

Time is up! pass your answer sheets. Students passed their answer sheets.

And the winner is __________.

Congratulations __________, you won!
G. Generalization
I hope you enjoyed the game.
Did you learn something from the
discussion?
Yes, ma’am.
Okay, if you really understand the
_________ raised hand.
discussion what is a modifier again?
A modifier describes or qualifies another
Yes, _________.
part of a sentence. A dangling modifier
occurs when the intended subject of the
modifier is missing from the sentence, and
instead another subject appears in its
place.
Very good, _______. Here is your token.

Thank you, ma’am.

Now, what are the two methods to fix
dangling modifiers?
_________ raised hand.

Okay, ________.
Revising the main clause and modifier
phrase.
That is correct _______. Here is your
token.

Thank you, ma’am.

H. Valuing
Are you experiencing hardships in life? Yes, ma’am. Most of the time.
Well, ______, if you are experiencing a lot
of hardships in life, this video clip is for
you.
Let us watch and listen to a video clip.

The students watched and listened to the

video clip.
What quotation have you remembered
from the video?
________ raised hand.
Yes, _________.
According to Heiji Hattori, “I’m willing to
commit mistakes, if there’s someone else
who’s willing to learn from it .”

Very good, ______.Here is your token.

Thank you, ma’am.

Now, what did you learn from the quotation

of Heiji Hattori? _________ raised hand.

Yes, __________.
What this quote means is that the speaker
is willing to make mistakes, but not for
themselves. They’re willing to take the risk
of failing so that others can learn from it.
It’s about being selfless and using your
own experiences, both good and bad, to
help others grow. It shows a caring
attitude, where mistakes are seen as
valuable lessons for the people around
you. In the end, it’s about helping
everyone learn and grow together, even if
it means going through some tough times
yourself.

Nice answer, ________.Here is your token.

Thank you, ma’am.

How can you connect it to the lesson that _________ raised hand.
we had today?
Just like the quote talks about making
Yes, __________. mistakes to help others learn, fixing
dangling modifiers in writing is about
taking responsibility to make things clearer
for everyone. When we correct these
errors, we’re not just improving our own
writing, but also helping others avoid
confusion. It’s about learning from
mistakes and using that to guide others.

Good realization _______.Here is your

token.

Thank you, ma’am.

The quote emphasizes the value of making

mistakes to help others learn and grow.
Similarly, correcting dangling modifiers in
writing is about taking responsibility for
clarity, helping others understand by fixing
errors. Both involve learning from mistakes
and using that knowledge to guide and
support others.
V. Evaluation

modifiers?

the quiz, I know that this activity is very
