STUDY GUIDE

Add text

1. Place the cursor where you want to add the text.


2. Start typing.

Replace text

1. Select the text you want to replace.


2. To select a single word, double-click it.
3. To select a line, click to the left of it.
4. Start typing.

Format text

1. Select the text you want to format.


2. From the pop-up toolbar or the Home tab, select an option
to change the Font, Font Size, Font Color, or make the text
bold, italics, or underline.

Copy formatting

1. Select the text with the formatting you want to copy.


2. Click Excel Format Painter icon Format painter, and then
select the text you want to copy the formatting to.

Tip: Double-click Excel Format Painter icon Format painter if


you want to copy the formatting in more than one place.
Create a list
1. To start a numbered list, type 1, a period (.), a space, and
some text. Word will automatically start a numbered list for
you.
2. Type* and a space before your text, and Word will make a
bulleted list.
3. To complete your list, press Enter until the bullets or
numbering switch off.

Create a list from existing text


1. Select the text you want to change into a list.
2. Go to Home> Bullets or Home> Numbering.

Note: Find different bullet styles and numbering formats by


clicking the down arrow next to Bullets or Numbering.

Change the font color

You can change the color of text in your Word document.
1. Select the text that you want to change.
2. On the Home tab, in the Font group, choose the arrow
next to Font Color, and then select a color.
You can also use the formatting options on the Mini toolbar
to quickly format text. The Mini toolbar appears
automatically when you select text.

Tips:

1. If you don’t see the color that you want, choose More
Colors, and then select a color on the Standard tab, or mix
your own color on the Custom tab.

2. To change the color, transparency, and shade of the text,


choose Gradient.

Change the font for all text using styles

1. Select Format > Text Styles. Depending on the view you've


chosen (Gantt Chart, Resource Sheet, etc.), you may have to
select Gantt Chart Format, Resource Sheet Format, etc.)

2. In the Item to Change list, select All, then select the font,
size, or color you want for all text in the current view. To
change the font of just certain tasks, select the type of item
from the drop-down menu, change the font, and then select
OK.
3. Repeat this process for other views. Changing the font in
one view has no effect on the font in other views.

Tips:
1. Use the Organizer to copy font changes from one project to
another, or for all future projects.
2. Select File > Info > Organizer. Learn how to use the
Organizer to copy changes from one project to another.
