DATA ANALYSIS
DATA ANALYSIS
Statistical Tool
The Researchers will use one-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to compare the means of two
independent variable which are course, sex, living arrangement, and economic status to see if there are
any statistically significant differences between them based on the checklist.
Qualitative Analysis
Data gathered through Focus Group Discussions (FGD) will be analyzed, collated, categorized
using inductive analysis. These methods will allow students to share their thoughts and feelings about
emotion regulation in their own words, giving more context to the quantitative results.
Through triangulation of the quantitative and qualitative data, a clearer and more detailed
picture of the students’ challenges with emotion regulation can be created. This information can help in
designing programs to improve their emotional well-being of 1st year students.
Descriptive Statistics
The researchers will summarize emotion regulation difficulties using measures of central
tendency (mean, median, mode) and dispersion (range, standard deviation). Frequency distributions will
also be calculated for demographic variables.
Inferential Statistics
A one-way (ANOVA) will be used to examine whether there are significant differences in
emotion regulation difficulties across groups (e.g., sex, course, living arrangement, economic status). A
significance level of p < 0.05 will be used.
Significant Difference
If the ANOVA results show a significant p-value, post-hoc analyses will identify specific groups
that differ in their emotion regulation challenges. These findings will inform program design aimed at
addressing these challenges.
