Instructions : Find a case study. Read the case study carefully and prepare a Project Proposal
based on the above guidelines.
Recommended sections in the report could include as follows : Introduction, Systems Request
Summary, Findings, Case for Action, Project Roles, Time & Cost Estimates, Expected Benefits
and Appendix. However, for your preliminary investigation for the project, the sections of the
report have been tailored to match the academic purpose. Your Preliminary Investigation Report
or your Project Proposal should include as follows:
1. Introduction
This report outlines the preliminary investigation into the development of a new hotel
booking system. The current system presents several challenges for both hotel staff and
customers. This investigation aims to identify these challenges, explore potential
solutions, and justify the need for a modern, efficient booking system. The proposed
system will streamline operations, improve customer experience, and ultimately increase
revenue for the hotel.
7. Cost
A suitable hotel booking system should prioritize core features like online booking,
real-time availability updates, secure payment processing, and basic reservation
management. Complex features like dynamic pricing, extensive reporting, or deep
integrations with numerous OTAs might be less critical for a budget hotel and can be
considered later if budget allows. An off-the-shelf solution with some light customization
is often a good starting point, as it's generally more affordable than bespoke development.
Therefore, a budget hotel might aim for a system in the lower end of the cost spectrum,
perhaps in the range of RM 45,000 to RM 135,000.
8. Conclusion
In conclusion, hotel reservation systems online have turned into crucial instruments of
modern hospitality concerning win-win for hotels and guests alike. Being a self-taught
computerized method of booking based on reservation management, these systems ease
hotels' operational burdens and enhance revenue-generation capacity. At the same time, they
work for guests who are able to access booking options 24/7, making personalized
experiences and enhanced communication possible. Ultimately, a successful implementation
of an online hotel booking system favors operational efficiency, guest satisfaction, and
sustainable rise in revenue in the competitive landscape of hospitality.
