About the Author

The author, Seanne Van Dominiq

Pumar, is in her early twenties.
She does not seem very artistic
but she tries. She is very fond of
tulips, SEVENTEEN, and healing
her inner child. Expressed.
PREFACE
An experience like no other, making
this chapbook is truly an exhilarating
ride. The author would like to express
her excitement as this is one, if not
the highlight of her academic year.

Composing and writing her own

poems and even getting to make her
own artwork, the author is thrilled to
present her very own chapbook, titled
“Expressed.”

This chapbook was given life as the

author would like to expressed every
bit of emotion she had to suppress all
her life. This chapbook is rightfully
dedicated to her inner child, Baby Iq.

May this chapbook find you well and

in your own way, your own peace.

FLOWERS IN ACTION

MEDIOCRE ME
Someday, I would like to feel
happy
Ecstatic if I’m lucky.
And maybe then, I’ll feel less
guilty
Not an achiever anymore, I fear
Not the better version of
myself I wanted here
Ergo, a severe case of
mediocre.

Pessimistic, I know
Unbelievably enough, I don’t
think so
Maybe, I’ll love myself more
someday
And I’d forget I’ve been
resenting her everyday
Really sad, I know.

MY MAMA NEEDS HER
MAMA, TOO.
It was supposed to be a normal night
But it all changed when the clock strikes
midnight
How she opened our door and turned on
the light
And all I hear were sobs as she explains
with might.

“Wala na inyo lola,” was what she said,

But all I heard was a child calling for their
own mother..
My mama does not cry, I don’t think I
ever saw her sad.
But she collapsed to the floor as her
eyes welled up with tears.

And there I realised, my mama is not just

my mother

BUNDLE OF PERFECTION
She is and will always be someone’s
precious daughter.

Oh, tulips!
Oh lovely tulips!,
For there's different colors,
And shades that blossoms

Deep love
Knowing a person,
His habits and character
Is pure and deep love.

One’s inner peace
Is another’s happiness,
And that’s beautiful

Melancholic Holidays

Holidays are supposed to be

cheery,
But in a cold December night
One home did not seem right,
The spirit seem none,
As the supposed-tree gone,
Well, that surely feels gloomy.

For a child, that must’ve been a

pity,
To spend a holiday with such glum.
That is reality for some, I suppose.
In holidays like this, some people do
not feel like family,
Or some simply, do not have a dad
and mum
A holiday spent where melancholy
sure shows.

BEAUTY OF GRIEF

LET SORROW HURT
In the dark as it casts sorrow's heavy veil,
Grief whispers her in the silence of the night,
Its solemn touch, a mournful tale.

It lingers long, when joy begins to pale,

A memory that haunts in the fading light,
In the dark as it casts sorrow's heavy veil.

Through tear-stained eyes, where memories

prevail,
Her heartache deepens, an endless fight,
Its solemn touch, a mournful tale.

Yet in the depths, where the hurt assail,

A glimmer of hope, however slight,
In the dark as it casts sorrow's heavy veil,

Through grief's embrace, we learn to set sail,

Navigating darkness with all our might,
Its solemn touch, a mournful tale.

And though it hurts, we shall not curtail,

For in our grief, we find our insight,
In the dark as it casts sorrow's heavy veil,
Its solemn touch, a mournful tale.
