CNTL-3016 Lab 2
CNTL-3016 Lab 2
OBJECTIVES :
1 Create a new Logic Designer project, establish communication with station PLC and go online.
2 Use a wiring schematic to determine the required logic.
3 Create and configure tags necessary to support the required logic.
4 Create and document all logic to support the lab requirements following established design principles.
5 Create a new Factory Talk View Studio project following all design principles for the lab requirements.
Name the project (Your initials)3016 L2
6 Establish communication between the HMI and PLC
7 Prove the functionality of the HMI & PLC logict using Test Application .
8 Create and configure a new logic project using a Compact Logix 5580 processor in slot 0.
Name the project (Your initials)3016 PLC L2
REQUIREMENTS :
1 Create Controller tags for the required devices.
2 Tag names must be clearly understood if troubleshooting the logic and have descriptors.
3 Using the wiring schematic provided create the logic to control a conveyor motor.
4 Create a 3 wire control logic circuit to enable a conveyor motor.
A green light will be on when the conveyor is running. A red light will be ON when it is not running.
5 Every rung of logic must have comments to indicate the operation of the logic
6 Download the logic to the station PLC and go online.
7 Your HMI project must have a main, conveyor control and production data screens
8 You must be able to navigate to any screen from any screen.
9 The main screen must contain conveyor status indicators, the production data screen will have a
numeric display for part count
10 Determine what buttons are going to be needed for each screen.
11 Determine the colours that you will use for all objects as well as your screen backgrounds.
12 Determine the type of buttons that will be used and ensure that their design meets the design principles
discussed in class.
13 As you create the screens test their functionality by using the test display function.
14 At the end of the lab session, save your projects, print a pdf of your logic and save it to the
submission folder.
15 Be sure to leave the save path as the default path for the project.
16 Validate and troubleshoot your own logic before asking for help. Use the help files in Studio 5000
and the lecture notes to resolve any problems first.
Using the diagrams below write out the sequence of events that must occur for the motor to run and the
green light to come on. Be as detailed as possible in your description.
