Day 1 (23/09/24)
Team 4 OPD
The day started with flag hoisting at 6:30am
Followed by nss oath, and nss song. We were told our schedule for 7 days and task timetable
was assigned.
After breakfast, a simple inauguration ceremony by chief guests : 1.Basavaraj
Grampanchayat sadasyaru 2.GIRISH KUMAR,PDO 3.PRABHUDEV , ADHYAKSHARU
4.VEERESH,HEAD MASTER 5.DR SHIVAPRASAD 6.DR SUDEESH SHETTY
The OPD began soon after the inauguration, around 11am
Some of our team members went to the OPD venue, i.e., Krishi seva Sangha, Kambal, where
they cleaned the premises and arranged table and chairs from nearby school and society.
Different sections of the OPD were:
1)Registration
2)Height and weight checking
3)BP and sugar testing
4)Consultation
5)Pharmacy
6)Documentation
The consultants were :
The patient outflow was satisfactory with a total of. ..... patients.
BP was tested to all the patients.
GRBS tested to 24 patients.
The major ailments observed was:
Hypertension
Diabetic mellitus
Joint pain
Osteoarthritis
Asthma
GIT issues
There were pretty enough medicines that were sorted systemic wise the previous day, which
helped in quick dispensing of medicines to the patients.
Ayush department.......... visited our OPD and brought some medicines, information pamplets,
and some charts along with them, and were a part of the OPD for sometime and gave their
valuable inputs and suggestions.
We winded up the OPD session by 3:00pm.
Outcomes:
1) we learned the common ailments, their signs and symptoms
2) we were exposed to different classical and patent medicines which gave us a broad insight
into dravyaguna
3) we identified the common diseases in kambal
Difficulties faced:
1) the OPD venue was small
2) had to clean the area ourselves
3) rain interrupted at the end
4) some rude patients behaviour
Overall it was a good experience in between the public, a good learning experience and great
clinical, and practical exposure.
Day 2 (24/09/24)
Team 4 : Survey
After the regular flag hoisting and yoga session,
Pre-Camp Preparation:
1. Collected NSS survey questionnaire sheets
* Publicity pamphlets
* Information bulletin regarding Pancha karma, Yoga, Dengue awareness, Home remedies.
We started the survey after lunch at 3:00 pm and arrived at our location Machanahalli at
3:30pm. There was slight delay due to rain and transport inconvinience.
After reaching the venue, we divided ourselves into 4 teams of 3 members each and split in
different directions and roads to cover major hotspots of the village under the gridance of
localities.
We informed the villagers about
1) The venue of camp - Govt. school of Machanahalli
2) Timings of Camp
3) facilities provided at Camp
4) Age group and common diseases
5) Importance of Ayurveda.
6) free consultation and free medicine distribution.
Outcome:
1) Major people were from geriatric age group
2) Major complaints were from geriatric disease, HTN, DM, knee and hip joint pain, Heel
pain, Respiratory diseass, E-ENT diseases
3) out of 149 houses we covered 96 houses, some houses were vacant, and others were
locked.
We covered and gave publicty by visiting milk dairy in the evening as it was major hotspot
of the villagers.
And asked the villagers to spread the news through drum roll (danguura)
Difficulties faced:
1) Autorikshaw delay
2) Rain before and after survey
3) Some locked houses
4) Alcoholic person nuisance
It was a good interaction with the public, and we tried our best to explain them the
importance of regular health checkups and following of dinacharya and rutucharya.
And also explained them the ayurveda system of medicine and it's benifits.
Day 3 25/09/24
Team 4 CULTURALS
It was our cultural team day.
We woke up at 5:30am.
The boys of the team went to collect flowers that were locally available and prepared a
elegant bouquet.
The flag hoisting was done at 6:30am by the guest of honour Mr. Umeshaiah, the chef of Shree
melanagavi veerasimhasana mutt.
After the flag hoisting, we conducted warmup exercises, yoga and pranayama session to the
camp members and explained them the importance of exercise and healthy lifestyle.
After the morning session we got involved in the cultural activities.
Theme: Hasya rasa
Preparation:
We started the preparation the previous day by selecting the songs for singing and dancing.
The next day, we woke up early and started with the song editing and practice.
After a quick, light breakfast, we reported back to practice and got involved in further
planning.
After lunch, we planned the games to be conducted for other teams.
Evening we did our final rehearsals and designed our costumes and started the culturals at
6:45pm.
Culturals:
There were
1) Solo song
2) Duet dance
3) Group songs
4) Group dances
Games:
1) Navarasa acting
2) Guess the song through English translation
3) Same side leg hand running
Outcomes:
1) It was a fun filled, entertaining evening.
2) We learned sportsmanship and teamwork, coordination
3) spontaneous event organisation
4) time management
5) crowd management
6) creativity and sportiveness
7) talent hunt among the classmates, unknown talents were exposed and
Difficulties faced:
1) Due to rain, the venue was changed from ground to mess hall.
2) due to time shortage, had to cancel some events.
We winded up the culturals at 9:00pm and had dinner.
Overall, it was a fun filled night, filled with entertainment, laughter and lots of talent hunt
through the classmates.
Day 4 (26/09/24)
Team 4 : Shramadana
After the regular morning flag hoisting, yoga session.
1) Kambal Lake:
We went to the Kambal lake for swachatotsava at 7:00am and started picking up the litters,
the common waste were, plastic water bottles, gutka and pan covers, torn slippers and other
miscellaneous garbage.
We disposed them wisely and returned for breakfast.
2) Shiva anjaneya temple:
Post lunch we went to a nearby Shiva anjaneya temple where we cleaned the temple
premises.
The common waste were dried flowers, plastic cover and other wastes.
3) A small hill near Shivagange
We visited a small hill near Shivagange, where we cleaned the premises.
The common waste were glass bottles, glass pieces and plastic water bottles.
Outcomes:
1) waste management
2) garbage disposal
3) cleanliness
4) public awareness about waste management
5) dustbin colour code awareness
Difficulties faced:
1) hot soaring sun
2) dust
3) transportation difficulty for the cleaning Venue for the team members
Overall, it was a satisfying day of cleaning and contributing to the public health.
Day 5 (27/09/24)
Team 4 : Cleaning
1) We cleaned the stage and school premises for the flag hoisting session.
2) We cleaned the mutt mess - the common eating area of school kids and nss teammates all
three times a day.
3) We cleaned the wet waste produced by the cooking team while preparing the dishes to the
teammates.
4) We cleaned our house stay/hostel of mutt, cleaning involved dusting, brooming and
mopping.
5) We washed the utensils and cookery that were used in food preparation in the mess all
three times a day.
Outcome:
1) learned life skills
2) water management and recycling the water used wash to plantation of coconut trees
3) speed and cleanliness
4) division of labour
5) gender equality where even
the boys of team joined and pioneer the cleaning work.
Difficulties faced:
Nothing significant.
Day 6 (28/09/24)
Team 4 : Cooking
1) Morning:
We woke up at 5:30am and helped prepare puliogre.
Dessicated coconut was prepared, and garlic were peeled.
2) Afternoon:
We visited Shivagange temple and took the blessings of lord Shiva and took the
afternoon Anna Prasadam.
3) Evening:
Tea was prepared and served by the teammates.
4) Dinner:
We prepared dinner with the menu: vangibath, cutlet, and coconut chutney.
On the occasion of a NSS teammate's birthday, she distributed sweets to everyone.r
Outcome:
1) It was an opportunity to learn time management, speed of cooking, work division,
maintaining hygiene during cooking.
Difficulties faced:
Nothing significant.
