Writing: English club

Part 2: Write 20-30 words “What do you usually use the Internet for?”
Well, I often spend 4 hours a day on surfing the social media in order to update news
from my friends. Also, I search for information on Internet for my academic assignments.
Part 3: Write 30-40 words
A: I usually spend 6 hours a day studying English. How do you learn English?
I think we have the same habit. I have attended to a speaking-English online course for
about 5 months. I also love watching English films. It’s a great idea to immerse myself on
an English-speaking environment.
B: English is a popular language in the world. What are your thoughts on this idea?
I totally agree with this. From my perspective, English plays an essential role in our life,
as the globalization becomes a necessary trend around the world. Using English will
enhance our opportunity to approach to new horrizons and expand our knowledge.
C: When do you usually use English?
Because I’m an English-majored student, so I use English most of the time, especially
when it comes to attending my major subjects. I’m a big fan of US-UK pop music, so I
often listen to and sing my English favorite songs to my best friends.

1. Write to your friend.

Dear Jane,
We haven’t talked for a while. How’s it going? I hope that you are still well.
Yesterday, I got an email from my English club’s manager about a complicated matter.
As you know, more and more words and slangs are added to English vocabulary
these days, so many people have strong reactions to this issue. Some people think
that’s would be alright and positively accept that, others argue that there should be
rules for language. Could you tell me your opinion? Drop me a line.
Love,
Nguyen.
2. Write to the club’s manager.
Dear sir,
My name is Do Thi Thao Nguyen, and I have been an English club’s member for 6
months. I am writing this email to express my feelings and reactions about our club’s
topic.
According to the email I received from our club yesterday, many members dicuss
overusing slangs and phrases in daily communication. While some people positively
accept this, others argue that there should be rules for language. I actually felt blue
and bored when I read that. I am a Gen Z person, so I am quite open-minded on this
issue. I think the goal of the community is that we can communicate comfortably to
each other and can understand what the partners say. Additionally, it will help the
language become abundant and diverse. Our conversations will become enjoyable
and fascinating. I hope this email will reach to you soon.
Yours faithfully,
Do Thi Thao Nguyen.

WRITING: SOCIAL CLUB

Part 1. You want to join a social club. Fill in the form. Use 1-5 words.
1. What’s the weather today? It is warmer than yesterday and full of sunshines.
2. How are you? I am quite tired and nervous.
3. What’s your hobby? I love designing art graphic and listening to music.
4. How do you get to work? I get to work on my scooter.
5. What do you like to do in the evening? I usually watch a film from my favourite
list.
Part 2. You are a new member of a social club. Write in sentences. Use 20-30
words.
What do you like to do with friends and where do you do?
I have friends studying the same major with me, so we usually meet at school. My
friends and I like coffee, so we tend to choose some cozy coffee shop in order to relax
after a stressful week. We also love eating delicious food together. We always choose
our favorite restaurant on Tran Hung Dao Street to hang out and taste some delicious
food. It is always unforgettable moments of I and my friends.
Part 3. You are a member of a social club. You are talking to three other members
in the social club chat room. Talk to them using sentences. Use 30-40 words.
A: Where did you meet your friends for the first time and how did you become
friends?
My friends and I had undergone a semester with the COVID-19 pandemic, so after
that, we came back to school and it was the first time we met each other. At first, we
were a bit shy, so we didn’t know what to talk. Then I broke the ice and talked about
our upcoming classes. It has been four years and we are still friends.
B: I have just moved to the city and want to make some friends. Can you give me
some advice?
Hi there, nice to meet you! I think I have some advice for you. Firstly, you can make
new friends on social media such as Facebook. Secondly, you should take part in
talking to new friends first, you can say hello or ask what their name is. Finally, you
can invite them to hang out and eat some delicious food.
C: It is much easier to make new friends these days because of computers and
mobile phones. Do you agree? Why or Why not?
Yeah! I’m completely with you on this. These days, people tend to connect with their
friends on social media such as Facebook by joining groups or engaging in
discussions. Thanks to the revolutionized technology in communication, we have a
lot of smart apps in order to update their friends news easily.

Dear Anna,
We havent’t talked for a while. How’s it going? I hope that you are still fine.
I have joined a social club for three months. My club organizes some monthly face-to-
face meetings which must suit both young and older people. I was over the moon
when I heard that good news. Could you give me some suggestions to hold a club
meeting? Writing me back your thought!
Love to hearing from you.
Love,
Nguyen.

Dear sir,
My name is Do Thi Thao Nguyen and I have been a member of your club for three
months. I am writing this email to express my feelings and suggestions about the
situation.
According to the email I received from you yesterday, our club is going to organize
some monthly meetings for the club’s members which must suit both young and
older people. Honestly, I was over the moon when hearing this news.
To prepare well for the upcoming meetings, might I recommend some suggestions?
Firstly, we have to find a reasonable venue to hold it. I suggest that we can choose a
coffee shop at Tu Xuong Street which has many young and older people pass by.
Secondly, we need a timeline and detailed script to show a professional club
meeting. I believe that I can support our club with this matter. Finally, we must
estimate the members of our club joining the meeting so that we can set up the best
seating for them. I hope that my recommendations will be useful for our club.
Additionally, I believe lots of our club members have the same ideas with me.
I am looking forward to hearing from you soon, if my suggestions are accepted.
Yours sincerely,
Do Thi Thao Nguyen.
