KIDZ ENRICHMENT PLAN FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST 2024 - JR.

KG

THIS PLANNER CONSISTS OF ACTIVITIES AND CONCEPTS. KINDLY SHARE THIS PLANNER WITH YOUR KID DAILY AND POINT OUT TO THE
PICTURES AND WORDS AS YOU READ. THIS MONTH WE WILL CONCENTRATE ON INCULCATING GOOD EATING HABITS.

As children grow and develop, they need important nutrients to be strong and healthy. Some of the benefits of healthy eating include:

 Stable energy
 Strong bones and teeth
 Improved mental health: Makes us think clearly and be more alert
 Maintaining a healthy weight
 Preventing chronic disease.

This month students will get the following preparations in their tiffin so that they will be exposed to a variety of foods. Refer to the list given below on
the different methods of healthy cooking

Monday Roasting Chappati and sabji, paratha, thepla

Tuesday Boiling Peanuts, chana, chole, sprouts and other


legumes( in a salad form), corn

Wednesday Stir fry Fried rice, pulov, stir fry veggies, corn

Thursday Steaming Idli, dhokla

Friday Grilled/ non gas Sandwiches, fruit salad, chaat

We want to encourage good healthy habits. The above menu is not compulsory. Parents need to send healthy food in the tiffins, kindly decide
according to your child’s eating habits. Incase you are not able to create the above listed menu for the school snack you could make the dishes at
home. It is a good idea to be openminded and model good eating habits at home too.

Theme- My first garden- Mini creatures- have you noticed mini creatures around you? In the garden,
compound or in your house! This month, the students will learn about the dragonfly and some beetles. What
makes these creatures special and different? This will be the topic for discussion.
Soil- This month we continue with the topic, ‘soil’ for our students. They will observe the experiment on how compost is made. Students will also learn
the importance of earthworms through this activity. For this learning engagement we will require parents to help your child in collecting vegetable or fruit
peels, stalks and steams of leafy vegetables. This you can send daily with your child in a steel container, avoid using plastic bag when sending the peels to
school. Kindly lable the container.

Music – Songs are the best way to learn and comprehend vocabulary. Students will be introduced to the song, “firefly”.

Dance - Students will dance on the Patriotic song ‘Nanna Munna Rahi Hoon’.The students will learn to follow instructions
given by the teacher through counting and then encouraged to perform independently.

Cooking Experience- Vegetable sandwich
Students will prepare the veg sandwhich on 14th August 2024 for Pre-Independence Day celebration.
Send in a seprate cloth bag the following. Kindly label evrthing that you send.

1. 2 buttered slices of bread


2. Green chutney ( around two spoons of less spicy chutney)
3. Ketchup ( around two spoons)
4. Thinly sliced, round slices of tomato
5. Thinly sliced, oval slices of the cucumber.
6. A slice of cheese
7. Salt or black salt for the sandwich
8. A steel plate for assembling the sandwich.
9. 2 extra napkins.( for wipping hands and whipping utensils.)
Let’s celebrate the colours of India- Please dress your child on these occasions

Rakshabandhan Celebration: Students will wear Festive clothes on 16th August, 2024
for the celebration.

Pre Independence Day Celebration: We will be celebrating Pre Independence Day on


14th August. 2024. On this day, students will come dressed up in any Indian state attire eg.
Maharashtra, Kashmir, Goa etc.

Janmashatmi Celebration: We will be celebrating Janmashtami on 22nd August, 2024.


Boys will dress up like Krishna and girls will dress up like Radha.

Show and Tell - Dear parents, we will continue our show and tell in the month of August.
Students will talk about, “I love my India because…..” theme for their Show and tell. They will explain to their peers about the
picture they have created.

Student of the Week- Help your child to prepare her/his poster and add the favorites things in the form of
drawing, pictures, photographs. Encourage them to talk about themselves. Please remember parents that this is
a collaborative activity with your child, let them create their own poster. They can help in sticking , cutting and
drawing.
