Madam MADAHA
1. What is the corresponding y force 4. At which point does the weight of a body
component of a tensile force, with concentrates?
A. Centre of curvature
B. Centre of gravity
C. Centre of mass
D. Centre of weight
5. After isolating a node, the following
forces are acting on it as shown. What is
the value of the force F3?
A. 20√2 KN
A. 0 KN
B. 20√3 KN
B. 12 KN
C. 30√2 KN

D. -6 KN
SECTION B
Exercise 1:
According to the technical specifications, the beds should be for two persons each and designed
as in the image below. Suppose the side rails simply rest on both ends, and the average weight of
the two occupants is 1800N.
a) Determine the uniformly distributed load "P" per linear meter on each side bar (2 marks)
b) Determine the contact reactions at A and B, considering P = 1200N/m (3 marks)
EXERCISE 2:
The project consists of the study of the realization of the benches in the courtyard of the traditional
chiefdom of Ngulane 2. Here below is the model with its details for the study. At this stage of the
study, we will focus on two (02) elements: the seat (2) on which a person (1) of weight P =
200daN is seated, and the elements (4) which is a device ensuring the stability of the feet or legs
(3).
The study focuses on the equilibrium of the elements (2) and the support reactions on the feet (3),
considering the mechanical diagram of the seat (2) here below.
i. Draw the free body diagram of element 1 and bring out all external forces (4 marks)
NB: The self-weight of components (2) is neglected.
ii. Determine the support reactions in A and B, neglecting the self-weight of the
element (6 marks)
GOOD LUCK
