After completion of preparatory works such as the installation of block,
plaster preparation, plaster works and then the painting works will then
carried out. In this article will show the procedure on how painting
activities will be done.

Now here is the method statement of painting works.

1. Title

2. Purpose and scope

The purpose of this method is to describe the measures and ways of


proper application of paint at control tower. Works shall be carried out
in compliance with the drawings, project specifications, and materials.
3. Work procedure

1. Mock-up

 Mock up sample would be made for selection and approval of the


Engineer prior to commencement of the works.
2. Preparation

 Hardware materials which are already fixed and not to be painted


shall be removed. Removal if not possible, it shall be
covered/protected appropriately before surface preparation and
painting will commence.
 Clean and prepare concrete or cement plaster surfaces to be
painted. Efflorescence, chalk, dust, dirt, grease and oils shall be
removed.
 The surface of the area to be painted would be prepared by
removing loose particles, blemishes, and deleterious materials by
way of sanding.

3. Paint Application

 The paint system would be emulsion paint for internal but to be


approved by the Engineer. The surface to be painted when
prepared one coat of paint to be applied as primer. Curing would
be made by drying until 4 hours is attained prior to the succeeding
coat to be applied.
 Two coats of Stucco would be applied after the primer has
reached its curing period. But each coat shall have an interval
time of 4 hours for curing. Before the application of second coat
stucco sanding would be done for cleaning and removing of
splattered, blemishes and stains on the painted surface.
 Then two coats of final paint would be applied as per the
approved RAL color.
 For working at height, fixed and movable scaffolding would be
erected as per area requirements. Scaffolding when erected shall
be inspected with Safety officer prior to usage. Operatives will be
inductive before working at site. Pre-start meeting would be
conducted before the start of painting activities and tool box
meeting would be regularly conducted by safety officer for all
concern operatives.
 Inspection Request to be submitted for checking and approval of
the Engineer.

4. Safety

1. All works shall comply with safety procedure or instruction set out
in project safety plan and Municipality rules and regulations.
2. Basic PPE to be worn by all staff or laborers.
3. All operatives involve in this work shall be inducted before
entering the site.
4. Tool box talk shall be conducted regularly.
5. Equipments and tools

1. Wheel borrow
2. Drip tray
3. Drill machine
4. Pail
5. Sand paper
6. Rug cloth

After completion of compaction and application of Anti-termite, the
blinding shall then be cast.

But the QA/QC Engineer shall take first the approval of the
applications of Anti-termite from the Engineer by submitting an
Inspection Request ( IR ).

Here is the Method Statement of this activity:

1. Title

2. Purpose and scope
1. The purpose of this is to describe the measures and ways of
doing blinding works on our project site. Works shall be carried
out in compliance with the drawing and project specifications.

3. Work Procedure (Blinding)


1. Setting out
 [Company] surveyor would conduct a site survey to stake-out
the lines and levels of the areas of the blinding to be cast.
The mark shall be as per the approved drawing.
2. Application
 After getting compaction test results which shall be equal or
above the 95 percent of the Maximum Dry Density.
 The shuttering form on the blinding must be fixed, aligned
and leveled properly before start pouring concrete.
 The Engineer must check the setting out, dimensions,
alignment, thickeness and the level for the shutter of the
blinding through inspection request from the contractor.
 The Anti-termite shall be sprayed on the compacted blinding
area by using the approved materials and works will be as
per approved Anti-termite method statement.
 The newly placed Anti-termite shall be properly covered by
using an approved polythene sheet commonly with a 1000
gauge thickness.
 The concrete must cast within 24 hours after the Anti-termite
has been placed.
 The contractor must prepare a sketch showing the casting
areas, pump and trucks access, pump location, concrete
trucks checkpoints and submit to the Engineer.
 Skilled laborers provided with all safety requirements such s
safety helmet, overalls, safety shoes, goggles. gloves, vests,
etc.
 Safety precautions shall be taken into considerations starting
from the site entrance gate including the pump and trucks
access to the surrounding of the casting area.
 Proper light must be available for when of concrete pouring
at night.
 The concrete trucks must unload the concrete within One-
and-a-half hours from the batch loading time.
 The blinding thickness shall be achieved as per drawing or
specification.
 The cast blinding shall be cured properly with covering wet
hessian clothe.
 Concrete must be cured of two to three times daily for a
period of 7 days.
 The blinding shall then be protected with a safety warning
device to prevent the cast blinding from damages that may
cause by the working machinery.
 The surface of blinding shall be made smooth, repair of
thermal cracks and make true leveling to receive
waterproofing bitumen.

4. Safety
1. All works shall comply with the safety procedure or instruction as
set out in project safety plan and municipality rules and
regulations.
2. Basic PPE shall be worn by all staff or laborers.
3. Trained operators or banksman would be engaged to control or
operate heavy equipment machines.
5. Equipment and Tools
1. Heavy Equipment – Truck mixer, Concrete Pump, Boom Loader
2. Activities Equipment – Wheel borrow, Surveying Instrument,
Metal Tape
6. Materials and Reference
1. Materials – 20 Mpa Blinding Concrete (C20/20 Grade)
2. Reference – Specification Section – Concrete Works,
