METHODOLOGICAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR TEACHING-LEARNING

Module 1: LOCAL AND ONLINE OFFICE APPLICATIONS

The inclusion of this training module in the curriculum of the IT professional figure aims to
prepare students in the use of different local and online office applications in a technical
manner, allowing them to properly use the tools of each program, so that the processing of
information meets the established requirements.

Since students usually already have prior knowledge about the use of local and online
office applications, it is important that the teacher performs a diagnostic assessment to
determine the students' entry level and, on that basis, proceeds to plan the teaching-
learning activities aimed at achieving the objective of this training module. From this
perspective, the following methodological recommendations are proposed for the
development of the module:

- Propose information processing exercises with ascending levels of complexity.

- Consider the time required to complete the exercises, the resources needed and the
effort required of the student.
- Monitor the development of assigned tasks, promptly correcting any errors that may be
detected during information processing, to promote the correct use of the different
office tools.
- Incorporate elements that require research and are related to the competence of the
professional figure into information processing exercises.
- Support the development of interdisciplinary study activities, through the use of local
and/or online office tools.
- Consider the interest that students may have in carrying out specific assignments that
require the use of local and/or online office tools.
- Plan the development of collaborative work to encourage the exchange of knowledge
and experiences among students.
- Provide spaces for analysis of the work carried out, so that students can verify
compliance or non-compliance with previously established requirements.
- Establish comparisons between the functionalities of proprietary and free software
office applications.
- Plan the execution of an integrative project during the study process of the module,
which allows systematizing the learning developed.

Module 2: OPERATING SYSTEMS AND NETWORKS

This module integrates the curricular contents related to single-user, multi-user and
network operating systems, which must be developed in a sequential and articulated
manner throughout the three years of technical high school; consequently, when the
educational institution prepares the annual curricular planning (PCA), the teachers of the
area must define and organize the work units (UT), integrating the contents of operating
systems and networks in each year of study. In curricular planning, the weekly workload
established for each year and the sequence that the teaching-learning process of this
training module will follow must also be considered. The proposed methodological

2
4
recommendations are:

- Conduct tests on students' prior knowledge, relating to the objectives of the different
work units.
- Conduct bibliographic research on the relevant content of the work units.
- Represent through diagrams the functions, structure and operations performed by the
operating systems studied.
- Systematize the problems that an operating system must solve for its management,
relating them to the corresponding techniques used in its design.
- Research and present specific examples of accidents and problems related to
information security, and the measures and techniques used in a company to ensure
such security.
- Develop practical exercises that facilitate the exploitation of shared resources in a
system, using physical elements or interconnection simulators.
- Plan the execution of an integrative project during the study process of the module,
which allows systematizing the learning developed.

Module 3: PROGRAMMING AND DATABASES

This module, which will be studied throughout the three years of technical baccalaureate,
seeks to develop in students the ability to create computer systems with programming
languages and databases, to meet specific requirements posed by the user. From this
perspective, the teaching-learning process should be oriented towards the construction of
proposals aimed at solving problems of different types and varying complexity. The
articulated integration of programming language and database content will be evident in
the last two years of high school. The proposed methodological recommendations are as
follows:

- Conduct case studies related to real-life problems, in which students are the ones who
propose solutions.
- Organize teamwork so that students can share knowledge and experiences, as well as
responsibility for their execution.
- Consider the dosage of time required for programming, depending on the complexity of
the exercises.
- Propose exercises with situations that constitute challenges to be solved by students,
which will help keep their curiosity active and guide them to be investigative, such as in
the search for new commands.
- Allow students to create programming exercises to foster greater commitment and
motivation in their development.
- Provide differentiated exercises with new challenges for students who are progressing
quickly in their learning.
- Analyze as a group the difficulties that may arise during the development of the work, to
encourage the students themselves to propose solutions.
- Plan the execution of an integrative project during the study process of the

module, which allows the systematization of the learning developed.

Module 4: TECHNICAL SUPPORT

5
This training module prepares students to perform technical support activities on computer
equipment, with the aim of maintaining the operation of hardware, software and
connectivity in optimal conditions. The relevant aspects to consider in the teaching-
learning process are: The techniques and procedures to be applied in each technical
support intervention, the technical specifications of the equipment and the manufacturer's
recommendations, the safety regulations and the documentation of the interventions
carried out. In this sense, the general recommendations proposed for the development of
the module are:

- Conduct analysis tables on current regulations related to technical support.

- Organize teamwork so that students can share knowledge and experiences, as well as
responsibility for their execution.
- Generate spaces for analyzing technical support problems, so that students can propose
solutions in a reasoned manner.
- Analyze in groups, prior to the execution of the different jobs, the risks involved in each
intervention, with the purpose of taking the necessary preventive measures and
contributing to the development of a safety culture.
- Place emphasis on the documentation of the interventions carried out, to consolidate
the logic of the process carried out.
- Provide technical support services to the community, so that students can participate in
solving real-world problems.
- Plan the execution of an integrative project during the study process of the module,
which allows systematizing the learning developed.

Module 5: WEB DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT

This module addresses the process of designing and building intermediate-level web
solutions for communication and dissemination of information. The curriculum content
considered begins with the basic concepts of the web and multimedia tools, and then
addresses the use of editing applications and the design of web solutions, the evaluation of
the solutions built and their publication and promotion. For the development of this
module, the following general methodological recommendations are proposed:

- Visit entities that carry out advertising design and website development work to observe
a complete production process, identifying its stages, the techniques and tools used.
- Arrange a visit by an expert in the field to the educational institution to discuss his
experiences with IT students in advertising design and website development.
- Review web pages with different content and purposes (commercial, educational,
governmental, among others), with the purpose of comparatively analyzing their
structures, identifying similarities and differences in their design and functionality.
- Generate spaces for analyzing situations of design and construction of web solutions
with certain parameters, so that students can propose solutions in an argued manner.
- Define exercises for applying the content covered, considering the interest that students
may have in creating their own web solution designs.
- Develop an integrative project during the study process, in which students apply the
learning achieved, emphasizing creativity, innovation and quality of the web solution,
also considering compliance with current standards and regulations.

Module 6: TRAINING AND CAREER GUIDANCE – FOL

This module aims to provide students with knowledge of general standards related to the
work field, as a tool to facilitate their transition from the student context to the work
context in the IT field. The topics covered in the curriculum include: labor law, job
placement, occupational hazards, safety and hygiene, social security, management and
leadership. The following are proposed as methodological recommendations for the
development of this training module:

- Conduct round tables to analyze current regulations related to the IT labor market.
- Conduct research on social security and member benefits.
- Develop certain module topics through case studies, which allow relating the curricular
contents with real situations that arise in the work and professional field.
- To awaken in students a love of work, responsibility and appreciation of the standards
of professional ethics in their work performance.

Module 7: TRAINING IN WORK CENTERS - FCT

This module aims to reinforce student learning by carrying out formative-productive

activities in real work scenarios; consequently, the recommendations proposed for
students to achieve significant learning during their attendance at the workplace are:

- The educational institution must seek approaches with entities (work centers) that have
in their organizational structure an area responsible for the administration of computer
services.
- When preparing the training program that students will develop, include relevant
activities related to the competency units of the professional figure; in this sense, it is
important that the student can visualize the complete process of developing computer
service activities, even if he or she does not have direct participation in their execution.
- Where feasible, encourage direct participation by students in activities they can carry
out, taking into account their level of technical training. This situation must be
negotiated between the teaching team in charge of the FCT module and the person in
charge of the workplace in charge of this process.

- Develop the induction phase for students, explaining in detail the activities of the
training program, its relationship with the profile of the professional figure and the
modules studied, the workplace regulations that must be observed, the mechanisms for
communicating news, among other aspects.
- Relate the experiences achieved by students in the workplace with the learning
developed in the educational institution.
