VISUAL DESIGN IN EVERY ASPECT OF

HUMAN LIFE
INTRODUCTION

The world of graphic design today is very closely related to all aspects of life. In general,
graphic design is a medium that makes it easy for us to exchange and convey information to make it
more accessible and attractive with visualization aspects that are comfortable for everyone who sees
it. Therefore, there is no denying the existence of graphic design in all aspects of life. The following
are some of the benefits of graphic design in all aspects of life.

Definition of Design based on Purpose & Function

In general, there are several goals to be achieved by good design. Actually, this goal really depends
on what design you want to make, for example, product design has a more specific purpose.
However there are some general goals that span across all branches of design, they are:

1.Achieving effective and efficient functionality

2.As identity (brand)

3.Maintain the object to be made (quality control)

4.Sensory Comfort: aesthetic appearance

5.Add value to the object to be designed

6.Achieve physical comfort (ergonomic)

7.Give value and meaning to convey

8.Convey the idea you want to convey

Design Elements

The design element is the smallest unit that forms the unity of a design. Various design elements
include: points, lines, planes, spaces, light and dark, shapes, and so on. This element is important to
know so that we know every part that can be manipulated or engineered to develop a design to be
more effective or more beautiful. More details about the elements of design and how to process
them can be read at: Elements of Art and Design.

Design Principles

Design principles or principles are various truths that can be applied to design elements, so that the
design looks more beautiful and aesthetic. The application of design principles includes how we
maintain or manipulate: balance, contrast, repetition, color combinations, etc. in the designs we
design. These principles can be studied in: Principles of art and design.
In addition, design elements and principles are also assembled into a practicum module with a more
structured hierarchy to become Nirmana which consists of Nirmana 2D & Nirmana 3D.

Graphic Design (Visual Communication Design);

Is a branch of design science that prioritizes the visual communication it produces. Graphic Design
must produce communication that provides sensory comfort and conveys well to the masses.

Product Design (Industrial Design);

In contrast to graphic design, product design focuses on the functionality of disposable objects that
will be produced industrially. In addition to the function and beauty of the product, this
concentration also requires a designer to pay attention to ergonomics or physical comfort in the
objects that are created.

Design interior;

Interior design focuses on designing the interior of a space in a building. What furniture should be
provided in a room, how will it be laid out, etc. Interior design must be able to make efficient use of
the space that has been generated by the architectural design.

Architectural Design;

The branch of design science that is concentrated on the design of buildings. Because there are too
many technical aspects of the building, this discipline usually doesn't bring design frills in front of it.

Graphic design has an important role in various aspects of life. It is undeniable that for the successful
sale of a product or event, marketing and advertising with attractive visual content is needed.

In the professional world, competing skills to create a good design is no longer the main point, but
doing the design requested by the client correctly and quickly is the key.

Due to the wide variety of results, the design can be derived into several branches of their respective
sciences. The following is the division of several branches of design science
BODY/CONTENT

1. Design Elements

In short, the design elements can be said to be the parts that make up the work. Maybe if we
assume this is like cooking a cake, the elements are the ingredients, while the principle is the
way to make it. There will be tips to achieve the desired cake, but we must also pay attention
to the "quality" of the ingredients.

Point

Actually, if you look at the literature or other sources, there are those who think that dots are
part of the design element, but there are also those who say otherwise. The reason the dot is
not considered is that it is considered too simple as an element. However, I (and some parties
of course) feel that it is precisely because of its very simple existence that it becomes an
important "element" that forms other elements. The explanation of this point is also
interesting: like the actual discussion, what is the shape of the point? Is it round? Why do you
say dots, why don't you just say circles?

Line

The line is the intersection of 2 points. The shape can be various, can be straight, curved or
awut-awutan. Usually the line is not too thick. There is a thickness limit that we can feel
whether it is a line or not, again depending on the comparison with the plane / canvas used.
It's a bit difficult to explain because it comes back to individual perception and imagination,
but I'll try. For example, imagine a straight line between A and B, imagine the same line but
we increase the thickness of the line by 100x . Maybe this line is no longer visible as a line
but more visible as a rectangle.
Shape (Shape)

Shape is a form that arises due to the role of lines that limit space and are 2 dimensional. For
example, triangles, squares and even abstract shapes.

Dimension/Volume (Form)

Actually, I'm a bit confused when distinguishing in Indonesian between Shape & Form, so I
decided to define form as dimension/volume because form generally refers to shapes that
have volume: such as cubes, blocks, prisms, etc.

Color

I think the color is self-explanatory. The theory of color if described here can be very long.
Discussions about color can include light, dark, combining primary colors, wavelengths so
that we can see certain colors and so on.

Room
The space in the discussion of design elements is arguably the area where we pour our work.
One example of a fairly popular discussion about this space is the discussion about'Negative
Space'or part of the work that seems to be made empty just like that or we can also call it
"empty space". The amount of empty space in the design for some people consider it a "lazy"
designer, but there are also those who think that the game of empty space and the placement
of other design elements by paying attention to position, balance etc. to the empty space will
give a minimalist & elegant design. One of the subjects of using space in an interesting
design is aboutGestalt theorywhich I have discussed before.

Texture

Texture refers to the shape of the surface in the work so that it creates a visual impression that
is usually associated with the sense of touch. For example, the texture of cement that looks
rough and slightly grainy, or the texture of soft yogurt, etc. For example: if we draw a chair
and add a suede texture to the seat cushion, the viewer can imagine at the same time using
imagination and the experience of feeling the suede texture that you want to convey from the
picture of the chair.

2. Design Principles

What are Design Principles?…

To understand design principles, we first discuss principles. Everyone must have principles,

you also must have right?.

What is the principle like?…

Toni has a principle that if life is about providing as many benefits as possible, then that

principle will help him in living life.

It means?…

Because Toni's principle is like that, if there is a job offer that does not provide benefits or

even harms many people, he will immediately reject it.

So what does this have to do with Design Principles?

Similar to principles in living life, design principles are principles that are held to make the

design process easier.

For example…

One of the design principles that I adhere to is… “Remove distractions and put what is

relevant to the user”

That principle helps me when I'm designing, for example designing a search results page.

With the principle that I hold, then I always see what information is relevant for the user to

see, and get rid of information that will actually make the user confused.

For me, not all information has to be displayed right away. Good information delivered at the

right time.

Another example…

My other Design Principles are… “Provide ample space to make it easier for users to read

information”
3. Graphic Design

Graphic design often referred to as a graphic designer (English: Graphic Designer) is a

profession that createsillustration, typography, photography, or motion graphics (motion
graphics). A graphic designer creates works forpublisher, print and electronic media, such
asbrochureand advertise products. Graphic designers are responsible for making a display
look attractive, so that it can be applied in various forms of promotional materials related to
products and the public.
Graphic Designers are tasked with conveying an information desired by the product or client
in the form of an attractive design.
In today's millennial era, graphic designers are needed.

Scope and role[edit|edit source]

The scope of the industry and the roles of graphic designers in general include the following:

Especially in designing icons on the user interface on a websitemobile
phone,computer,notebook,tablet pcetc.
o Helmet
Make sticker patterns that will be affixed to the surface of the helmet.
o Mode
Its task is almost the same as in the field of photography, which is to
edit photos and make them more interesting by increasing the
sharpness & brightness of photos, and others.\
4. Product Design

Design is the driving force behind any successful business. You can learn a great deal from case
studies and statistics on the web. we will take a look at some facts about product design that you
probably didn’t know about. There are several things that must be considered in the process of making
product design, including :
1. Empathize :
Learn about the people you design for. Do research to develop a deeper understanding of your
users.
2. Define
Create viewpoints based on user needs and insights.
3. Ideate
Brainstorm and come up with as many creative solutions as possible. Generate a variety of potential
solutions by giving yourself and your team total freedom.
4. Prototype (Prototype)
Create a prototype (or set of prototypes) to test your hypothesis. Prototyping lets designers see if
they're on the right track, and often sparks different ideas that you wouldn't have thought of before.
5. Test (Test)
Test back with your users for feedback from everyone.

5. Design Interior

Interior design is one of the services that is quite famous lately. Services related to the design and
arrangement of the layout of the room are quite in demand by service users who want to make their
homes more artistic.
1. Interior design is not just a women's work area
In fact, nowadays many men are doing this business and giving a different point of view from women.
2. Interior design is not done carelessly
The fact is that this service is not only about color or pattern. These business people think about
everything from making layouts to considering the appropriate architect, all carefully done in order to
produce a beautiful and comfortable room as desired by service users.
3. The sketch is made with a computer program
In this era of increasingly sophisticated technology, of course, it affects interior design services as
well. Now they not only make sketches manually, but also use computer programs that can make their
work easier.
4. Interior design has a variety of jobs
Like other jobs, this interior design also has variations in terms of workmanship. Some provide
services on normal working days, according to the working hours of their service users. However,
there are also those who provide services according to the project and the needs of consumers.

6. Architectural Design

Like other jobs, this interior design also has variations in terms of workmanship. Some provide
services on normal working days, according to the working hours of their service users. However,
there are also those who provide services according to the project and the needs of consumers.
It’s a fact about Architectural Design :
1. Architects are meant to design only buildings

This is the biggest myth. Architects learn to design everything. From furniture to interiors, they learn
to design everything. There are famous architects who have designed quirky flower pots too. They can
pour in their creativity and design the outer structure as well as anything that is needed to design the
house/building/office or any infrastructure.

2. Architects should compulsorily be good at math

Architects should be creative and have a better knowledge of how space is to be used. If they are good
at math and physics, that is an additional benefit. So even if a student is not good at math, he can still
pursue architecture and become a famous architect.

Generally, in a counseling session, a student is advised to take up engineering if he is good at math.

3. Architects just draw on paper

After computer engineers, architects are the ones who know to work on multiple software. They are
taught to learn photoshop, CorelDRAW, 3D printers, laser cutting, and more. Their designing work is
not just on paper, they equally need to have knowledge about working on the latest software and
do qualitative research.

4. Architects don’t read books

This is the biggest myth about architects. They love books and need to read them too. Just observing
the buildings is not enough, architects have to read through history and the foundation. There are
architects who have passionately read thousands of books and designed marvelous structures based
out of that knowledge. An architect can have his /her own library of exotic architectural books, so you
should not be surprised when an architect talks about his favorite books and authors.

5. New architects are better as they have learned new things

Well, the older the architect the better. Architecture is one field wherein experience matters a lot. An
experienced architect knows a lot of things about buildings. However, a new architect may have
learned new ways and designs but his implementation powers may be less than experienced architects.

CONCLUSION

Graphic design is very important for the business world at this time.
Because with a design, an item or product will be more visible and attractive so
the market demand will be even more. And also design Graphics really function
as a place to remind someone of something goods. On this occasion, the author
had the opportunity to make a design promotion of traditional food that many
people have forgotten about food so that people can remember this traditional
food and elevating the traditional values contained in products by using design
touches.

By using this graphic design technique, it is very helpful for a products to be

better known and promoted. With an easy design remembered and has a
characteristic, then people will easily recognize and remember the product so
people are expected to be able to interested in consuming the marketed
product.

Actually, this goal really depends on what design you want to make, for
example, product design has a more specific purpose. In addition, design
elements and principles are also assembled into a practicum module with a more
structured hierarchy to become Nirmana which consists of Nirmana 2D &
Nirmana 3D.

Graphic Design must produce communication that provides sensory comfort and
conveys well to the masses. In contrast to graphic design, product design
focuses on the functionality of disposable objects that will be produced
industrially.

Because there are too many technical aspects of the building, this discipline
usually doesn't bring design frills in front of it. Graphic design has an important
role in various aspects of life.
