23. A roller of radius r = 12 cm and weight Q = 500 N is to be pulled over a curb of height 6
cm by a horizontal force P applied to the end of a string wound around the circumference of
the roller (refer Fig. 3). Find the magnitude of P to start the roller over the curb.

26. The position coordinate of a particle which is confined to move in a straight line is given
by S = 2t3=24t+6, where S is in meters and t is in seconds. Determine, (i) the time required
for the particle to reach a velocity of 72m/s from its initial condition at t=0. (ii) the
acceleration of the particle when v= 30m/s. (iii) the net displacement of the particle during
the interval from t=1second to t= 4seconds.
28. A bullet is fired at an angle of 30 up to the horizontal with velocity 100m/s from the top
of a tower, 50m high. Determine: (a) time of flight, (b) horizontal range of the ground, (c)
maximum height of the bullet from ground, (d) velocity of the bullet after 6 seconds. Assume
horizontal ground at the foot of the tower.
30. A cart of mass M rolls down a track inclined at an angle θ. The cart starts from rest a
distance 1m up the track from a spring, and rolls down to collide with the spring as shown in
the Fig. 6.

contacts the spring.
(b) Suppose the spring has a force constant k. What is the peak force compressing the
spring during the collision?

with the horizontal when the ball is in a position of equilibrium. Also find the reaction R

34. A point P moves on a circular path in a counter clockwise direction so that the length of
