D. Checking of Attendance

The teacher will check the

attendance. None ma’am

Who is absent today?

Okay! Nice to hear that all of you

are present today.
E. Drill I will group you into 3 groups. Each
group have will given a Multiplying
and Dividing Decimals by Whole
Numbers Maze. What you are
going to do is solve this maze fast
as you can.

Group 1.

Group 2.

Group 3.

A. Reviewing previous lesson The teacher will ask the learners

or presenting the new lesson about their previous lesson.

Before we start our new lesson for

today, let’s review on multiplying
decimals up to 2 decimals places 1
to 2 digit whole numbers.

In multiplying 2 to 3 digits with 2-

digit numbers, we multiply all the
digits in the multiplicand from
right to left by each digit in the
multiplier. For the simplest
method, we arrange numbers in
a column. Regroup if necessary
and lastly, add the partial
products.

Example: 143 x 21 = 3,003

Did you understand? Yes ma’am.

Another, example 354 x 34 =

Yes Mikey. 12, 036
Who wants to answer?
Very good. Give your self a 3 Claps, claps, claps,
claps!
B. Establishing a purpose for Before we start our new lesson you
the lesson have game entitled “ Number
Puzzle Involving Decimals”
Direction: Think the whole number
and/or decimals with 1 to 2
decimals that will complete the
equation in the box. Find the
quotient.
Did you understand the direction? Yes ma’am
Okay let’s start the game.

C. Presenting examples/ The teacher will presenting the new

instances of the new lesson lesson.

All you need to do is listen and Okay ma’am

cooperate. Okay?

In this lesson, we will deal with

division of decimals up to 2 decimal
places. There is a correct way to
multiply and divide whole numbers,
just as there is a correct way to
multiply and divide decimals.
Consider the word problem below.
Miss Reyes has 0.64 dm of
ribbon. She needs 0.04 dm to
be used to prepare one
certificate. How many
certificate can she prepare with
the ribbon that she has?
When dividing decimals with up to 2
decimal places,
1. first multiply both the divisor and
the dividend by 100,
2. once the divisor and the dividend
have been changed to a whole
number,
3. divide the decimals as you do
with whole numbers.

Let us go over with the word

problem presented in the previous
part, following these steps below:

Step 1: Multiply the divisor by 100

to make it a whole number. 0.04 x
100 = 4
Multiply the dividend by 100 also,
0.64 x 100 = 64
Step 2: Continue to divide until the
difference is equal to zero.
16
4/64
-4
24
-24
0

Step 3: Check: Multiply the quotient

and the divisor, the answer must be
equal to the dividend.

4 x 16 = 64
Therefore, Miss Reyes can prepare
16 certificates.

Did you understood?

Now I give you another problem

and you will answer it. Okay?

Divide 0.36 by 0.12

Yes ma’am!

Okay ma’am.

Okay. Very Good, now let proceed Solution: 0.12 x 100 = 12

to another example. 0.36 x 100 = 36
_3_
How about if the divisor has only 1 12/36
decimal place and the dividend has -36
2 decimal places. How will you 0
divide them? Follow and Check: 12 x 3 = 36
understand the steps below shown.

Divide 4.25 by 0.5

Step 1: 4.25 x 10 42.5
0.5 x 10 = 5

Step 2: Then we divide just like

dividing whole numbers.
_8.5
5/42.5
-40
25
-25
0
Step 3: Now put the decimal point
in the answer directly above where
the dividend’s decimal point is
placed after it was multiplied by 10.
8.5
5/42.5 Thus, the answer is 8.5

Did you understand class?

Now you will have a short activity.

Yes ma’am!
