TOPIC 1: GET READY TO LEARN

We as a university student, we need to realize that we have entered the universe where we
need to be wise in determining something whether it is good or bad. We need to be more
responsible in arranging our university’s life. We need to be positive physically and mentally
to solve our daily challenges wisely. In this university life, no one will take care of you rather
than yourself. No family, no mom, no dad to watch you in close but they are praying for us
from afar so remember to always keep your chin up. We also need to remember the main
reason why we further our studies here. This is because there are many differences between
school’s life and university’s life.
In university, we should always have positive thinking and be open-minded so that we can
face the challenges.

To be successful students, we need to have this characteristic:

TYPES OF LEARNER

There are different types of learner, and the most common ones are:
1) Visual Learners
- These learners find seeing what they need to learn is the most beneficial.
2) Auditory Learners
- These learners prefer to hear information and respond best to spoken instructions.
3) Kinaesthetic Learners
- These learners are very tactile; they need to get a feel for something. It is all about doing
and sensing what they need to learn.
Learning Tips
It is important to discover our learning style so that we use the right way in learning.
Learning Style Inventory Test:
The results show that I'm a visual learner.
TOPIC 2: GOAL SETTING & LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
What are goals?
- Goals are specific targets or objectives that guide our effort and desicions.

My goals for this semester:

Obstacle to achieve my goals:

My way to solve obstacle:

SMART GOAL SETTING :

A Learning Management System (LMS) is a software application for the administration,
documentation, tracking, reporting, automation, and delivery of educational courses, training
programs, materials or learning and development programs. The learning management
system concept emerged directly from e-Learning.

Example of Learning Management System (LMS):

 UiTM I-Class
 UFuture
 Google Classroom
 E-Academic System
 I-Student Portal

TOPIC 4: TIME MANAGEMENT & ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS
Strategies to Stay Motivated:

Procrastination
Procrastination means delaying or postponing tasks or actions, by choosing to do something
less important or more enjoyable.
Strategies to overcome Procrastination
• Know what should accomplish
• Determine deadlines
• Use schedule or planners
• Prioritize
• Break a task into a series of steps
• Do the unpleasant task first
• Change how you think about the task
• Have fun with the activity
• Establish rewards as personal incentives for completion
Fixed-Commitment Calendar

Type of schedule where specific, non-negotiable events or commitments are planned in

advance and stay fixed. Here is my fixed-commitment calendar:
Job Task Analysis
This Job Task Analysis is very useful for us to create our daily schedule based on our current
needs. For each activities, we calculate how much time should we spent within 24 hours so
we does not waste our time with things that does not give benefits to us.
Prioritized To-Do List
A list of tasks where you arrange them from most important to least important.
TOPIC 5: MEMORY, LEARNING & IMPROVING CONCENTRATION
Based on this chart, it explain how memories are processed. Generally speaking, there are
3 types of memory such:
 Sensory Memory
As we know the word "sensory" are referred to 5 human senses. One need to be on
attention so that the information can be stored instantly by those senses.

 Short-term Memory
Moving on to next phase of memory, it then will be stored on limited 'storage' as the
information repeated. Some active learning also being used by some student to make it
more efficient to remember the input.
 Long-Term Memory
Human brain or as known as "super-computer" by professor who researched about
capacity of how many information someone can stored. Surprisingly, human can stored
unlimited input as long the method is correct.

CHAPTER 6 - Taking Lecture Notes and Academic Integrity and Performance

6.1 Taking Lecture Notes

In the boring class of lecture, students tend to lose focus easily. When this happened, it will
cost them more in the future when it comes for exam and want to do revision.

As we know, the solution might be simple but it change my study, personally speaking.
Taking lecture notes might sounds easy and can done by everyone, but if it's not correct and
effective way it will turn out as disaster when it can make student more confuse. The
question is, "How to Taking Notes in Correct Way?"

6.2 Effective Note Taking

 Be Prepared Before Class

When it comes to boring class, you will become sleepy-headed if students don't know
about topic. Student that have some background on topic they will learned more dominate
on class than those who attend the class clueless.
 Become An Active Listener
Then we have to become an active listener on the class. Active listener tend to participate
in class conversation more such as giving question and solution during class. Active listener
also will not become sleepy-head as they more into the learning.
 Using Effective Note Taking Method
A lot of way are invented to make student more interested during class, and effective note
taking is one of them. By far as I know the "Cornell Method" on taking lecture notes is
effective and simple because students just need to divide their whole day learning in one
page note. 3 section is a muston this method, "Cue Column" at the left, "Note Taking Area"
at the right and "Summary of Notes" at bottom of page.

CHAPTER 7 - Academic Integrity & Performance

7.1 Avoiding Plagiarism

Now we have arrived at peak of our studies, making assignments and sit for final
examination every semester.

Difficulties in finishing assignments are faced when it need to be done in short period of
time but demanding on good results. In this time, students that desperate on finishing their
task on time tend to searched their exact work online and try to copy it. This might cost them
2 major things, their "understanding" on that task and plagiarism on the finished assignment.
This is very important to take note because plagiarism is unethical behaviour that need to be
avoid. Then submit the assignments.

7.2 Calculating GPAs

After submission assignments, we come to grading and marks on task we did. We can
refer the grades and grades value below.

Appendix 14: GPA Worksheet

This is the method used for take the average total points grades. Students somehow need
to know this method to calculate this GPA. I can conclude it is the best way of it.
