Week 1 Lesson Plan
Objective: Help students get to know each other and start building a comfortable classroom
environment.
- Warm-up (10 mins): Introduce Yourself - Each student says their name, where they're from, and one
interesting fact about themselves.
- Activity 2 (20 mins): a. Two Truths and a Lie - Students write down two true statements and one false
statement about themselves. In pairs or small groups, they share their statements, and the others guess
which one is the lie. b. Name Chain Game - Start with one student who says their name and an adjective
that starts with the same letter (e.g., “Happy Harry”). The next student repeats the previous name and
adds their own. Continue around the class.
- Activity 3 (15 mins): Human Bingo - Create a bingo card with statements like “Has a pet,” “Loves to
cook,” or “Speaks more than two languages.” Students mingle to find classmates who fit the statements
and fill out their cards.
- Wrap-up (10 mins): Share Bingo results and reflect on what they learned about their classmates.
Objective: Ensure all students can log on to the computers and access necessary applications for future
lessons.
- Warm-up (20 mins): Discuss the importance of computer literacy and how it will help with their English
learning, success in school and navigating society. Introduce essential vocabulary. Cloze activity
- Activity 1 (20 mins): Guided Log-On - Walk students through logging on to the classroom computers.
Verify that each student can access their account.
- Activity 2 (15 mins): Application Access - Have students open the applications they will use regularly
(e.g., NCED Cloud, Canva, Nearpod and language learning apps). Assist them with any issues.
- Activity 3 (10 mins): Email Setup - If applicable, help students log in to or set up their email accounts.
- Wrap-up (10 mins): Upload photo of Cloze Activity to Canva. Quick recap and troubleshooting any
remaining issues.
Day #2 Vocabulary
Computer - An electronic device used for storing and processing information.
Log On - To enter a username and password to access a computer or an application.
Username - The name or ID you use to access a computer or account.
Password - A secret word or phrase used to access a computer or account.
Account - A personalized space or profile on a computer or application.
Application (App) - A software program you use on a computer or mobile device.
Access - To enter or use something.
Email - An electronic message sent through the internet.
Setup - To prepare something so that it is ready to be used.
Troubleshoot - To find and fix problems with a computer or application.
Objective: Develop basic reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills through activities focused on
classmates.
- Warm-up (20 mins): Quick Review - Students share what they remember about a classmate from Day 1.
Introduce essential vocabulary.
- Activity 1 (20 mins): Partner Interviews - Students pair up and interview each other using a set of
guided questions (e.g., “What is your favorite hobby?”). Each student then writes a short paragraph
about their partner.
- Activity 2 (20 mins): Reading Aloud - Students read their paragraphs aloud to the class, practicing
pronunciation and listening comprehension.
- Activity 3 (15 mins): Classmate Fact Match - Mix up the paragraphs and read them aloud anonymously.
The class guesses who each paragraph is about.
- Wrap-up (10 mins): Upload photo of paragraph to Canva. Reflect on the similarities and differences
among classmates.
Day #3 Vocabulary
Classmate - A person who is in the same class as you.
Interview - A conversation where one person asks questions and the other person answers.
Hobby - An activity you enjoy doing in your free time.
Favorite - The thing you like the most.
Paragraph - A group of sentences about a single idea or topic.
Question - Something you ask to get information.
Answer - A response or reply to a question.
Aloud - Speaking so others can hear you.
Guess - To try to answer something when you are not sure.
Similar - Almost the same, but not exactly.
Objective: Explore each student’s personal story of coming to America, enhancing speaking, listening,
and writing skills.
- Warm-up (15 mins): Discuss the idea of “journeys” and what it means to move to a new country.

- Activity 1 (20 mins): Story Sharing - In small groups, students share their journey to America. Encourage
the use of past tense and descriptive language.
- Activity 2 (25 mins): Writing My Journey - Students write a short narrative about their journey, focusing
on key details (Where did they come from? Why did they move? How did they feel?).
- Activity 3 (10 mins): Peer Feedback - Students exchange their narratives and give feedback on one
another’s stories, focusing on clarity and language use.
- Wrap-up (5 mins): Students share one thing they learned from a classmate’s story.
Day #4 Vocabulary
Journey - A trip or travel from one place to another, especially a long one.
Move - To go from one place to another, especially to live in a new place.
Country - A nation or area of land that is controlled by its own government.
Feel - To experience an emotion or sensation.
Family - A group of people who are related to each other, usually living together.
Home - The place where you live or come from.
Travel - To go from one place to another, usually over a long distance.
Experience - Something that happens to you or that you do, especially something important.
Different - Not the same as something else.
Brave - Showing courage; not being afraid to face difficult situations.
Objective: Reflect on the week’s activities and set goals for the upcoming lessons.
- Warm-up (15 mins): Quick Recap - Review key points from the week (e.g., classmates’ names, journey
stories). Introduce essential vocabulary.
- Activity 1 (20 mins): Reflection Writing - Students write about what they enjoyed, what was
challenging, and what they hope to improve.
- Activity 2 (25 mins): Goal Setting - Guide students in setting personal language goals (e.g., improving
speaking confidence, expanding vocabulary) and discuss steps to achieve them.
- Activity 3 (10 mins): Share Goals - Students share one goal with the class and discuss how they plan to
work on it.
- Wrap-up (5 mins): Encourage students to support each other’s goals and conclude with positive
reinforcement.
Day #5 Vocabulary
Reflect - To think carefully about something that happened.
Goal - Something you want to achieve or improve.
Challenge - Something difficult or hard to do.
Improve - To make something better.
Enjoy - To like or have fun doing something.
Confident - Feeling sure about your abilities or actions.
Support - To help or encourage someone.
Step - A part of a process; something you do to reach a goal.
Achieve - To successfully reach a goal.
Share - To tell others about something or give a part of something to others.
