Ans. We celebrate Teacher’s Day on 5th September every year in our school by paying
a tribute to our teachers. It is the birthday of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, the
second president of India.

1. How is Republic day celebrated in Delhi?

Ans. India became a republic on 26th January 1950. On this day the main function is
held at the Kartavya Path in New Delhi. The armed forces, police, school children and
folk dancers take part in a special parade. The President of India takes the salute.
The main attraction of this day are the tableaus from different states.

2. How is Pongal celebrated in Tamil Nadu?

Ans. Pongal is the harvest festival of Tamil Nadu. It is celebrated for three days in the
month of January every year. It marks the harvesting of rice. People draw Kollams to
decorate their houses. Rain God, Sun God and Cows are worshiped. Rice cooked in
milk and jaggery is called pongal. The cows are fed with pongal rice.
3. What is the difference between Dussehra and Durga Puja?

Ans. The difference between Dussehra and Durga Puja are :

Ans. Eid is the most important festival of Muslims. It marks the end of a month long
fasting period which is called Ramzan. People offer namaz in mosques. After namaz,
people embrace each other and wish ‘Eid Mubarak’. Sewain a special sweet dish is
prepared on this day. New clothes are distributed to the poor.

Ans. Mahatma Gandhi followed the path of non – violence to protect against the
