Course Objectives
The politics and principles in international relations forms the main thrust of this course. It provides foundations for appreciating problems of
governance and power management in the international relations and its role in historical perspective. It deals with the concepts and dimensions of
International Relations and makes an analysis of different theories highlighting the major debacles within the various theoretical paradigms.

Course Outcome (CO)


CO1 It deals with concepts and dimensions of international relations and makes an analysis of different theories highlighting the major debates
and differences within the various theoretical paradigms.
CO2 The dominant theories of power and different aspects of balance of power are included with a aim to have pro-active and futuristic
perspective.
CO3 It provides a fairly detailed overview of the major political developments and events starting from the 20th centuries. Students are expected
to learn about the key milestones in world history and to equip them with the tool to understand and analyze the same from different perspectives.
CO4 It also offers insight to contemporary global issues like the proliferation of nuclear weapons, ecological issues, international terrorism, and
human security.
CO5A key objective is to make students aware of the implicit Euro-centricism of International Relations by highlighting certain specific
perspectives from the Global South.
