SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN GRADE 11 ORAL COMMUNICATION IN CONTEXT

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students can:
a. Differentiate verbal communication from nonverbal communication
b. Perform and guess specific acts using nonverbal communication; and
c. Apprehend the value of verbal and nonverbal communication.

Content Standard: The learner understands the nature and elements of oral
communication in context.

Performance Standards: The learner designs and performs effective


controlled and uncontrolled oral communication activities based on context.

Learning Competency: Distinguishes the unique features of one


communication process from the other. (EN11/12C-Ia-4)

II. SUBJECT MATTER


A. Topic: Verbal and Non-verbal communication.
B. Teaching Materials: Laptop for PowerPoint Presentation, pictures, and
visuals.

III. LEARNING PROCEDURE
A. Routinary Activities

B. Review
As a sort of review, the teacher will ask some students to recall the
lesson from the previous discussion.
a. What is communication?
b. How does it help us in our daily lives?
C. Activity
Before the proper lesson starts, the teacher will show of
expressions/gestures and ask students the meaning of each picture.
Demonstrate variety of meanings and show how intercultural
misunderstandings might occur.
D. Analysis

The teacher will ask the students with the question

a. What have you observed from the given activity?


E. Abstraction
The teacher then introduces and discuss the lesson Elements of
communication specifically the verbal and nonverbal communication.
Students’ participation is highly encouraged so, the teacher will call
random students to participate.
F. Application

The class will be divided into two groups. The students will play
charades. It is a game of pantomimes; one has to “act out” a phrase
without speaking, while the other member of their team tries to guess
what the phrase is. The objective is for the team to guess the phrase
quickly as possible.

IV. EVALUATION
Instructions: Write your NAME if the statement is True and your SURE
NAME if the statement is False.

1. Nonverbal communication is always a sign of happiness.


2. Body language can reveal a person’s true feelings, even if they are trying
to hide them.
