What is included in a

Tech Pack?

Let me take you through each page

of the Tech Pack in detail

Sarah K Creative
MAKE UP
INSTRUCTIONS
This page will consist of a technical
CAD drawing with written and visual
details of all construction and styling
features.

You cannot assume your factory will

know what you want to make or that
they will know the best method.

The more detail that goes into this

page the better. It will also need to be
kept updated if changes are made.

BOM
Bill of Materials (BOM)

The BOM is a detailed list of all fabrics,

trims and packaging required to make
your garment.

It will include suppliers, references,

colours, placement on the garment,
prices and usage.

Like one big shopping list!

This is an integral part of your tech
pack.

SIZE CHART
A size chart is a record of your
garment's measurements.

Every time you receive a sample from

the factory it should be sent with a size
chart so that you can track any
pattern amendments made.

Ensure samples are checked back to

the size chart before fittings.

Once the garment is fit approved you

can sign off the size chart that came
with that sample as approved knowing
all measurements were correct

Sarah K Creative
SIZE SPLIT
Your garment may require different
widths of trims i.e. wider straps and
elastics, as sizes get bigger.

A size split will detail exactly what sizes

use what width of trim.
It's essential to review this carefully as
you will have MOQ to consider on trims.
For DD+ ranges this is particularly
important too.

FIT LOG
The Tech Pack should be a working
document between you and the
factory.

Keeping a fit log with all the comments

and pattern amendments you wish the
factory to make will ensure both parties
have record or the garment's
development.

GRADED SPEC
The Graded Spec is created once all
of your fit sizes have been approved.

It is the size chart that lists all sizes

and their measurements.

Production samples will be made and

checked back to this size chart.

Labeling and Packaging
Your Tech Pack should include images
of the labels and where they need to be
attached to on the garment.

Don't assume your factory will

automatically know where to put them.
Swimwear requires hygiene stickers.

You might also want to detail how the

garment needs to be folded and packed.
e.g if the garment had a barcode swing
ticket but is in a bag the barcode needs
to be visible for scanning. You don't want
to open ever bag to move it- trust me,
been there done that!!
