Drawing #1
Objective: Draw the plan, elevation and Section view of a residential building as
illustrated in the picture below
Drawing #2

Objective: A building is proposed to be constructed in one of the residential area


of city. The site is of size 18m x 24m of which 18m side faces the road in the
south side. The building is to cover a ground area of 100 sqm, conforming to
local building rule, side clearance, and minimum floor area for different
purposes.

Design the building providing the following requirements:


1. Two bed rooms with attached bath
2. One front Verandah
3. One hall cum dining room
4. One Kitchen
5. One Common bath
6. One Common closet
7. Open yard with compound wall

Draw to scale the following


1. Line sketch for the design
2. Plan of the building at sill level
3. Front Elevation
4. Cross-section giving maximum details
5. Site plan to a suitable scale
6. Schedule
Drawing #3

Objective: Line plan shows a type plan prepared for residential complex of a
Textile factory. Draw to a scale followings, assuming other details as per rules
and regulations.

1. Detailed plan for RCC framed structure. Locate column size 230mm x
400 mm. All external walls are 230 mm and internal walls are 115 mm
thick. Design a stair for a floor to floor height of 3150 mm. Staircases
walls are 230 mm thick.
2. Detailed section AB assuming the depth of foundation is 1500 mm below
ground level
3. Calculate dimensions X&Y
4. Write a schedule in tabular form for Doors and Windows.

Objective: Repeat the Drawing#3 problem for two-story (masonry buildings ) as


per the given plan.

Design a two-story hostel building


Objective: Draw to scale line plan, elevation and section (optional) of a two-
story hostel building for 200 students with other facilities such as dining cum
kitchen room, warden office, reading room, common hall, pharmacist`s room.
Adopt suitable size of rooms.

Design Notes:

1. The basic size for a student room shall be taken as 2.4m x 4m, which is
sufficient for a bed, wardrobe and a study table for one person
2. Room en-closer shall become ground (Football ground and Tennis Court)
3. The Dining room and common hall have full length folding doors for
larger opening
4. Rooms shall open to verandah.
5. The warden office, store/maintenance room, pharmacy room, provision
store along with dining hall, kitchen area and common hall all have to
taken near entrance so that disturbance to hostel rooms can be
minimized
6. Only library (reading room) has to be located at quieter place.
