It is a common myth that reading is only for nerds.

but let me tell you it is

disastrously wrong, instead, reading can take you through places, where you have
never been, do crazy jobs you could ever think of, and experience a rollercoaster
of emotions and tragedies with the main character.

1. Improves writing ability

A strong vocabulary is one of the most common traits of an avid reader. Not only do
they have clarity and elegance in their writing, but they also possess a strong
command over their language skills. As a result, they benefit from the literature
section in competitive exams and other areas like presentations, public speaking,
etc.

Just think about the reading comprehension, what strategy do you follow to deal
with that scary long article which always puts you down? Ask your friend for the
correct answers straight to save time or copy down a whole article while stumbling
on spelling and bad handwriting. trust me, reading for 10 minutes is far easier
than causing yourself neck pain by stretching it for two hours in exams, just to
copy an article.

2. helps in coping with stress/depression

some facts about reading: it lowers heart rate, reduces stress, and decreases blood
pressure. when you read your mind distresses and your body muscles relax. it
provides inner calmness and enhances overall health. Reading promotes better sleep.
it is better than taking medicines. remember keeping your mind away from your daily
problems just for a while is never selfish

3. improving social life

when you read, you see the world from authors perspective. you analyze the authors
thoughts , passion and moments. you understand the philosophies of different
characters, their pain , their love and everything in between.

you unconciously search for answers , what things made her take such a frivoulous
decision ? why does he hate his mother so much? or why would anyone kill such an
angelic soul? your ability to judge and percieve everything get better and live a
more peaceful social life.

Conclusion

why not live in 18th-century Britain and date Mr.Darcy? or play quidditch with
Harry? or Imagine dozing off while you are just about to unravel a secret with
agatha christie. Escaping from reality while at the same time understanding people
around you better, eventually building stronger bonds is the kind of privilege you
can buy from a book store. Reading lets you see the world through the author's
perspective. It improves your vocabulary, makes you more imaginative, and gives you
mental well-being. It's the perfect time to steal some moments for yourself; of
course, that's not greedy.

personal note

I have read so many books and so many stories and they all have moved me in one way
or other, they have helped me a great deal while I was going through an extremely
negative state of mind.

To underestimate the power of reading is an intentional crime of confining oneself

to the miseries and felicity of one small world. while living in an era, where
hustling with everyday odds to survive and provide for tomorrow is common, reading
for 10 minutes daily could be a powerful habit.
