1. Explain the terms Eigen function and Eigen values. Show Complex exponential
function as eigen functions of a system.

2. For a signal given below show how cosine waveforms can be added up to construct a
periodic signal x(t).
3

x(t) = ∑ 𝑎𝑘 𝑒 𝑗𝑘2𝜋𝑡
𝑘=−3

3. Find the Fourier coefficient for the following signal and draw magnitude and phase
plot.
X(t) = 1 + sin w0t + 2cos w0t + cos(2w0t + π/4)
4. Write Dirichlet Conditions for Fourier series and explain with neat sketch.

5. Explain Gibbs phenomenon for Fourier series.

6. Explain/Derive the following properties of Fourier series.

a) Linearity
b) shifting
c) Time reversal
d) Time scaling
e) Parseval’s relation
7. Obtain the exponential Fourier series for the waveform shown in figure. Also draw
the frequency spectrum.

8. Find the complex exponential Fourier series representation of the following signals.
a. x(t) = 4cos2ω0t b. x(t) = 3 sin 4 ω0t
c. x(t) = sin (2t+π/4) d. x(t) = cos2t
9. For the continuous time periodic signal x(t) = 2 + cos 2t + sin 4t, determine the
fundamental frequency ω0 and the Fourier series coefficient ak such that x(t)
𝑥(𝑡) = ∑∞ jkω
𝑘=−∞ ak e 0t
10. Find the complex exponential Fourier series representation of the following rectified
waveform. Also draw the frequency spectrum.

11. Obtain the convolution of following two function.

x(t) = 1, for -3 <= t < 3

= 0, elsewhere
y(t) = 2, for 0 <= t < 3
= 0, elsewhere

12. Find the convolution of x(t) and h(t) shown in figure.

13. For system having output as y(n) for the any arbitrary input x(n) and impulse
response, show how to find the length of x(n), h(n) and y(n). Also show how to find
starting and ending point of y(n)

14. Determine the convolution sum for the given

x(n) = {4,2,1,3} h(n) = {1,2,2,1}
15. Find the convolution sum for the given signals
x(n) = 2, for n = -2, 0, 1
= 3 for n = -1
= 0 for elsewhere

h(n) = δ (n) – 2δ (n-1) + 3 δ (n-2) – δ (n-3)
