Advanced Geometry Test

Solve all questions. Use detailed explanations and diagrams for full credit. Time limit: 2
hours.

Part A: Short Answer Questions (5 marks each)

1. 1. In triangle ABC, AB = AC, and P lies on AB while Q lies on AC such that AP = AQ. Prove
that:
- △APC ≅ △AQC.
- △BPC ≅ △CQC.
2. 2. If the diagonals of a quadrilateral bisect each other at 90°, prove that the quadrilateral
is a rhombus.
3. 3. Prove that the perpendicular bisectors of the sides of a triangle intersect at a single
point that is equidistant from the vertices.
4. 4. In triangle ABC, AB = AC. Prove that the perpendiculars drawn from the midpoints of
sides AB and AC to the opposite sides are equal.

Part B: Proving Theorems (10 marks each)

5. 1. In parallelogram ABCD, squares ABPQ and ADRS are constructed on AB and AD. Prove
that:
- ∠SAQ = ∠ABC.
- SQ = AC.
6. 2. In the given figure, ABC is an equilateral triangle, and QP is parallel to AC. Side AC is
extended to R such that CR = BP. Prove:
- QR bisects PC.
- △QBP is equilateral.
7. 3. In △ABC, AB = AC. Show that altitude AD is also the median.

Part C: Application-Based Problems (15 marks each)

8. 1. A point O lies inside rhombus ABCD such that it is equidistant from vertices B and D.
Prove that line AOC is a straight line.
9. 2. In triangle ABC, BD is a median, and it is extended to E such that BD = DE. Prove that:
- △ABD ≅ △CDE.
- AB = EC.
- AB || EC.
10. 3. Use the following figure to prove:
- AB = EF and BD = CF.
- AD = CF.
