short comings, is the ability for a students to sign in for another student many educational institutions are tryin, to identify
accurate, Safe, and reliable techniques to protect access rights to their existing services or Operation. finger print based
attendance System is an answer to these concerns.
Biometrics, especially in Information technology, encompasses methods to analyze physical and behavioral

physical features Including faces, eyes, fingers, hands, veins, eats, and teach can be used by this technology, and
characteristics such as gaits or Voice patterns are stil being Investigated and analyzed as part of the wider biometrics
field. Biometrics offers secure methods of access to sensitive services and Obviates the need to carry a token, card,
remember Sever. al Passwords. Biometric techniques also reduce the risk of lost, forgotten or copied passwords, stolen
tokens or over the shoulder attacks, yet despite all this obvious advantages. there is still one major reasons why it has not
been Implemented in many institutions which is that the biometric technique is expensive and the level of standardization
differs within Systems, numerous health hazards requirement for Specialist analytical Software and availability of
machines with the computing power to run it, fingerprint identification is one of the most well-known and common
biometric Identification System, Because of their uniqueness and consistency Overtime, finger print has been used for
identification for many years, more recently becoming automated due to advancement in computing capabilities.
The fingerprint System seems to be the most cost effective and easy to use among all of the biometric System with no
health side effects.

Panchiallty is one of the most important attribute of a good professional, this project is motivated by the desire to

1.3 Statement of problem.


Traditionally, student attendance is done by signing is and out in a register which leaves gap for Impersonate and
Student Sometimes record earlier time when they are late,

This project is aimed at developing a fingerprint based attendance Management System.

The objective of these project are to;,


– Design a Student attendance system using fingerprint biometric.
– Implement of the designed system.
– Test the implemented student attendance System.

1.5 Scope and Limitation of study.


This project uses fingerprint biometric for time attendance of Federal University of Technology, Minna to makes the
task less burdensome and enhance professionalism in institutions, This Project is Limited to the fact that the proposed
System doesn’t have a centralized database, which means student enrollment will have to be done in their class.

1.6 Significance If study.


The use of student attendance system is very important because of human being proneness to error, having their
names might not be accurate as student attendance can even write attendance for their fellow student attendance and
their handwriting legibility can be a case when compiling the attendance record at the ent of the month.
The official in charge of attendance collation is highly favored by this system because use of pen and paper as a means
of collating student attendance will leave the official is charge with numerous sheet of paper, which will be hectic as
he/she have to start comparing Several sheet to record the average attendance for just a student.
The official is going to waste a lot of time compiling the attendance percentage at the end of the month, mistake can
creep in due to the large volumes of papers.

Successful implementation of this project mean the student attendance credibility can be queried or put to test anytime,
and result are produced fast and accuracy, without stress.
