Course & Year: BSED MATHEMATICS IV
Introduction:
As a future student teacher, I believe that every child can learn and grow with the
appropriate support, environment, this will follow under my teaching philosophy. I believe the
classroom is a shared community where everyone feels safe, respected and motivated to
discover their best. My purpose is to provide an inclusive culturally responsive learning
atmosphere where each student’s unique abilities are recognized and built upon.
My goal as a future student teacher, the first and foremost mission I want to embrace is
creating an environment for my students so they can learn as much on their own with
confidence about what makes them curious. I want to teach them how loving learning is not
limited only to the classroom, but also extends into every aspect of your life so you may
become a lifelong learner. Thus, I want to promote critical thinking, creativity and problem
solving in the students so that they acquire a deeper set of skills into their bones such as
resilience for facing challenges and having ability towards change management living in fast-
moving world.
The biggest thing I value as a future student teacher is being able to help students not
only succeed academically, but also emotionally and socially. I remember while thinking that
teaching is way more than imparting knowledge, it’s about helping kids/students find out what
they like, shaping who are becoming and instilling them a sense of self. I want to be one of
those future educators who encourages students while they find themselves, work towards
their own futures and pay it forward into society.
Teaching Philosophy
My philosophy of teaching is student-centered where the learners brings their
experiences and real world problems into the classroom. It is my job as classroom teacher and
leader not to stand up front or hold forth students while they listen directly, but for me to
scaffold learning such that it grows from each, unique experiences are then shared with their
classmates. However, I believe that teaching is more than just passing on information but
creating an environment where students are nurtured with respect and motivated to take your
complement of education. A teacher is more of a facilitator and coach who supports students in
learning the skills to assess, develop solutions or apply knowledge to real-world situations. I
think learning happens when it is engaging, meaningful and real to your life. With a
combination of teaching tools which ranges from hands-on exercises, and collaborative
learning, to inquiry-based techniques, I seek ways to reach out and engage various student-
learning styles.
In addition, I believe that school should not just focus on education but also provide
opportunities to improve social skills and help create emotionally mature students. I will create
a supportive continues of learning by embodying respect, empathy and collaboration to
support the students in forming community within my classroom. I feel like my real role is
always to empower their curiosity and love for learning so that they can be a confident learners
beyond my classroom.
Professionally, I have been thinking about lesson planning that actively engages each
student. I am going to do classroom management stuff for keeping some positive learning
environment where everyone behaves with respect. I also plan to make more use of
differentiation in the classroom, both for different learning styles and levels. Another essential
for me is asking my mentor teachers to give feedback, this will assist me in improving and more
effective in my teaching ability as well. That is to become a more competent and confident
educator.
As I continue to pursue these goals, I believe I shall grow personally and professionally
whilst acquiring the skills and self-assurance that can help me foster the right environment in
my class for my students. Through the process of reflection and practice I would strive to not
only enhance my teaching practices but also help in uplifting the lives of the students and help
them attain the best that they can. These goals will become a good foundation as I traipse the
path of the teacher by inspiring me to radiate passion that will transform me to the most ideal
teacher that I will be.
