My strengths and successful experiences

Activity.2.
Do you know what you strengths are? In your booklet, identify four of your
strengths. For example: sports or hobbies, subjects at school, attitudes and
values, relationships, etc.

Once you have identifies them, mention a successful experience that has come
as a result of using those strengths.

The Strength Game

Sit in a circle with a pen, an A4 piece of blank paper, and a book to press on.
Put the paper into portrait orientation (upright). Fold the blank page in half
horizontally. Fold it in half again. Fold it in half a third time. Then fold it in half a
fourth time. Open out the page and you should have around 16 little folds.
Write the name of the person sitting on your LEFT in the top fold of the
sheet of paper.
Then go to the bottom fold on the page and write a lovely sentence about
something positive that you have noticed about that person. Fold the page
upwards one fold, so that the next person cannot read what you wrote.
Pass the page to the right.
Continue doing this and then when the page is full, each person is given
their page.
Write about how you felt when you read all the positive comment written on
your page.
Looking for strengths in others

Activity.3.
It is important to look for strengths in others and encourage them in these.
Read the poems and descriptions that John wrote about different members of
his family. In his writing, he concentrates on the positive strengths of his
family, but also mentions only one weakness. Make a list of several of each
person’s strengths and one weakness.

My Brother
You are my big brother, tall, clever, and strong.
I know that we argue and fight,
but I love you with all my might.
You have made me laugh, you have made me smile
and now I am saying goodbye

My Mother

Her hands have the strength to hold me close

and wipe away every tear.
Her words always comfort me and take away my fear.
The only thing I don’t

She is the one who encourages my dream.

The only thing I don’t li e is –
she can sure scream! I love
my mom.
Sometimes we see a weakness in ourselves that makes us feel miserable. But did you
know that a weakness can become a strength if you make a few small changes?
