Disclaimer: About Flash Fill features covered

in the next "More Excel Features for

Cleaning Data" video
The following video covers the use of Flash Fill and Text to Columns features in Excel for
cleaning data. Please note that there has been a recent update regarding the Flash Fill feature, and
corrections are currently in progress. As a result, some details in the video may not accurately
reflect the latest functionality.

Note: Both the Flash Fill and Text to Columns features can be used to split a single column
containing two names into two separate columns, each with one name.

Use Case for Flash Fill:

If you have full names in the "Customer Contact" column and want to split the first name and
last name into two separate columns.

Using Flash Fill in Excel for the Web:

To do this, first type the last name of the first record. Then, under the "Data" tab, click on the
"Flash Fill" option.

This will automatically fill the remaining cells with the last names extracted from the original
column. You can do the same for the first names as well.
Using Flash Fill in the Desktop Version:

First, type the last name of the first record. Then, start typing the last name of the second record.
At this point, Excel will show previews of the remaining last names.
Press Enter to automatically fill in all the other last names. You can do the same for the first
names as well.
