1. General
The BRMA unit (also called RMA unit) is an external unit for OmniPCX 4400 PBX remote maintenance.
This unit is used with M2 and M3 cabinets.
The BRMA unit has connectors to connect consoles and modems. It contains the RMAB board (remote
maintenance board, see module RMAB board - Operation). The BRMA unit runs on 48V power.

2. Characteristics
All internal system voltages are TBTS or TRT classified.
Environmental operating conditions are from 5 to 45 C.
User and equipment protection against telecoms network voltages are ensured by compliance with the
test recommendations given in chapter 6.4.2 of standard CEI 950.

Hardware description
The unit is composed of the following parts:
- on the front panel: user (Ethernet, V24, modem) connectors.
- on the rear panel: LEDs, debug connector and a feedthrough for the different cables.
- internally, the unit is divided into two zones separated by a central divider. One zone is for the
PRMA board (see: module PRMA board - Configuration) and the other for the cables and 48V
filter. The central divider protects the cables from electromagnetic radiation.
4. Installation
The BRMA unit is installed:
- on a shelf,
- wall-mounted.

5. Connection
To connect the cables, the BRMA unit must be opened by removing the attachment screws as follows:

5.1. Power supply connection
The BRMA unit is supplied (48V) either by the PBX or by an external source of power.
