FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
SET UP FAQ’S
HOW DO I INSERT THE SIMCARD TO THE DEVICE?
Please insert the SIM card in the simcard slot indicated at the
bottom of the device

HOW DO I POWER ON THE DEVICE?


Connect your device to an available AC power outlet using the included power
adapter then push the black power button at the back of the router.
The device SYS LED indicator will change from Steady orange to blinking Orange
if there is no SIM card or if SIM pin has not been disabled or green indicate the
device has completed the startup procedure and the SIM card is ready.

HOW DO I LOG IN TO THE DEVICE?


Connect the device to your PC, Laptop or Phone through WIFI or ethernet patch
cord (make sure your LAN port is on DHCP). Ensure that the connected PC has ac-
quired IP address via DHCP from the device.
Launch a Web browser and specify http://192.168.0.1 in the address bar. A window
will pop up requesting a password. Note the default password is “admin_4Gfwa”.
Input the user login password and then click the “LOGIN” button.
After successful log on, the default home page of the WEB GUI interface will
appear.
TROUBLESHOOTING FAQ’s
HOW DO I RENAME MY WI-FI AND CHANGE PASSWORD?
Log in to the device using http://192.168.0.1 on your browser. Select Wi-Fi configuration
on the dropdown menu. Select Wi-Fi 2.4GHz.
Edit Network Name to your preferred name then Edit Password to your preferred
password then APPLY. The device will reboot. repeat the above process for the 5GHz.
Once complete, power the device off and then on using the power button at the back
to confirm if the changes took effect.

2.4GHZ/5GHZ ARE OFF (MY WI-FI LED ARE OFF)


Connect to device using ethernet patch cord on PC or laptop (follow procedure no. 3).
Select WIFI configuration on the dropdown menu, select the 2.4GHZ, tick the Enable
radio status check box, APPLY. Repeat the process for 5GHZ

HOW DO I KNOW MY ROUTER IS WORKING PROPERLY?


When the router is working properly, the LEDs SYS, NET, LTE 1,2,3,4, 2.4GHZ,5GHZ
should be green. Line should be off.

HOW DO I CONFIRM THE NETWORK SIGNAL IS ADEQUATE?


The 4G CPE router should only be sold to customers in areas with adequate 4G cover-
age. Download the APP ‘Network cell info lite’ from Google play store on your smart
phone. The 4G signal strength should be below -100 with the best being around -40.
That means that the pointer should be in the green section between -100 and -50 for
good LTE signal.
CONNECTION FAQ’S
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE DEVICE IS CONNECTED
PROPERLY BUT THE SPEEDS THE CUSTOMER IS GETTING IS POOR?
Check if your Wi-Fi reception is good (at least 3bars on your phone) move closer to
your router. Call line 400 on the whitelisted number for the support team to assist check
on the line configurations

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE DEVICE IS CONNECTED PROPERLY,


SYS, NET, LTE 1,2,3,4 2.4GHZ,5GHZ LED GREEN LINE OFF BUT
THE CLIENT HAS NO INTERNET.
Call line 400 on the whitelisted number for the support team to assist check on the line
configurations it might be resources are depleted or the sim card has a problem.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE DEVICE MALFUNCTIONS?


Device does not power on or powers on but does not initiate all the LED indicators.
Take the router back to any Safaricom shop.

WHAT ARE THE SPECIFICATIONS OF THE 4G CPE ROUTER?
2.4GHz and 5GHz? can pick from 2G to 4G network.
