19. Jack has to drive to a railway station to catch the Beanstalk Express. He can catch it at either of two
stations: Giantland, 5 km directly North of his house or Brobdingnag, 12 km directly East of his house
(there are straight roads from his house to either station). He finds that whichever station he goes to, he
arrives exactly 15 minutes before the train reaches that station. If the train travels in a straight line
between the two stations, and Jack drives at 35 kmph, what is the speed, in kmph, of the train?

20. Two towns A and B are 180 kms apart. Car 1 and car 2 start travelling from A and B, respectively
towards each other. Their speeds are in the ratio 1 : 2 and they start at 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.,

each other. In order to meet car 1 for the second time at C, car 2 halts at C. For how much time does it
halt?

21. 2 men start working on a certain piece of work on the first day. On every subsequent day, the number
of workers doubles (so, on the second day there are 4 men, on the third day 8 men and so on). In this
manner, the work just gets completed on the 6th day. If instead, ‘x’ people had worked on every single
day, then, too, the work would have been completed in 6 days. Find ‘x’.
