Case Study: Business Analyst Role in Setting up SDLC for a New Mobile Application and

Introduction: Our client, a leading technology company, is planning to launch a new


mobile application to enhance their customer experience and streamline their
business operations. They also aim to implement a new Customer Relationship
Management (CRM) system to improve customer engagement and sales
management. As a Business Analyst, your role will be to facilitate the successful setup
of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for the mobile application and oversee
the CRM implementation process.

Objective: The main objective of this project is to establish a well-defined SDLC


framework for the development and deployment of the mobile application and ensure
a smooth implementation of the new CRM system. The project aims to enhance
customer experience, improve operational efficiency, and drive revenue growth for
the organization.

Responsibilities:

1. Mobile Application SDLC Setup:

 Conduct a comprehensive analysis of business requirements and user


needs for the mobile application.

 Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, success


criteria.

 Develop a detailed project plan, including timelines, resource allocation,


and budget estimation.

 Identify and recommend the most suitable development methodology


(e.g., Agile, Waterfall) for the mobile application project and justify your
approach.

 Define and document the requirements, functional specifications, and user


stories for the mobile application.

 Work closely with the development team to ensure adherence to SDLC


processes, including requirements gathering, design, development,
testing, and deployment.

 Perform regular reviews and assessments to monitor project progress,


identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.

 Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) and gather feedback to


incorporate necessary changes before the final launch.

2. CRM Implementation:

 Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, and


Customer Support, to understand their specific requirements for the CRM
system.

 Conduct a thorough analysis of existing processes and workflows to


identify areas for improvement and align them with CRM capabilities.

 Evaluate different CRM software options available in the market and


recommend the most suitable solution based on business needs and
budget.

 Define and document the functional requirements, customization


requirements, and integration points for the CRM implementation.

 Work closely with the CRM vendor or IT team to configure, customize, and
integrate the CRM system into the organization's existing infrastructure.

 Facilitate user training sessions to ensure smooth adoption of the new


CRM system.

 Monitor the implementation progress, identify, and resolve any issues or


roadblocks, and provide regular status updates to stakeholders.

 Conduct post-implementation reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of the


CRM system and recommend ongoing improvements.

Deliverables:

1. Project plan outlining timelines, milestones, and resource allocation for the
mobile application SDLC setup and CRM implementation.

2. Requirement documents, functional specifications, and user stories format with


5 examples (EPIC, Story, Bugs) for the mobile application.

3. Recommendations for the most suitable development methodology and CRM


solution. Competitor Analysis with Salesforce as a base.

4. Documentation of customized CRM configuration, integration details, and


workflow enhancements. Build a Process flow highlighting data flow and
infrastructure on a high-level

5. Build a template for regular progress reports, risk assessments, and mitigation

strategies for both projects.

up the SDLC for the new mobile application and ensuring a successful implementation
