This method of breaking down a complex works in terms of man hours

consumed for execution of the task is used the by commercial departments of ship
repairers to compile quotations. The ship repairers use their tariffs for standard jobs
to build up their quotations. Helps the yard to assess manpower requirements for
jobs and to produce time-based plans. Man-hours can be used without encountering
the problems of increases in costs over the years. In calculating the labour man-
hours, it should be borne in mind that these will vary for similar jobs carried out under
different conditions, such as world location, working conditions, environment, type of
labour, availability of backup labour, etc. The labour times compiled in this study is
based upon actual man hours consumed in a unit job in this yard.

Detailed Breakdown of Sequential Activities involved in Docking and

Undocking are as follows. It may be noted that irrespective of size of vessel being
docked, the time required for few stages remains same viz lowering the ship lift,
Positioning of cradle from work position to final position. However, time required
changes for dock block preparation and fixing it in cradle in proportional manner wrt
complexity of underwater hull of the ship and thereby the subsequent dock blocks.

The Manhours taken to prepare a dock and docking, undocking a 90m LOA frigate.
